Julie and Mike made everyone a hearty breakfast of fruit and bacon and egg buns. Mike's parents, Kerry and Jed, called in too! Alan set up the camera for a family photo, which worked well. The Nick's headed back to Melbourne, while the McCarthy family took us on a brief, sadly unsuccessful hunt for kangaroos nearby, before we all set off for the airport. The children all helped pull along our luggage and we checked in at Tullamarine. The family farewell was rather emotional as we have had such a wonderful, generous welcome from all the family. They remained in an area overlooking our plane and we waved to them once we were on board. Such a heart warming sight of them all waving from the view point. Our flight from Melbourne to Sydney was short. ... read more

Very excited, I will be heading to Madrid in a week and can't wait to visit the Prado museum. Feeling a touch underprepared for a walk and a pilgrimage but I've go the shoes and in the words of Sir Walter Raleigh, who would have had very different shoes... "Give me my scallop shell of quiet, My staffof faith to walk upon .. My bottle of salvation.. And thus Ill take my pilgrimage. Written 13 Dec. Sorry its taken so longto be in touch this time - the libaray wifi is knacked and I have wasted a couple of mornings there trying to get on internet - now they tell me there is a hotspot in the shopping plaza !!! Why didnt they say that before !!! SO I am sitting here under the trees sipping an iced tea - its about 28 deg but anice little breeze. Last week saw me out and about around Sydney and getting my bearings on this North Shore of the Harbour. I am becoming a fixture on the ferries – it’s such a great way to get around all over this enormous harbour. However sometimes I have to drive and thank goodness Stuart and Jo left me Sydney A_Z book as I ... read more

Well, the final countdown is on... a week to go before we depart Sydney for the Kimberley region of Western Australia. I'm getting excitied.... will we cope 4WD ing on the GIbb River ROad in the mddile of nowhere ? (or as Lara Bingle would say to the rest of the Ockers "where the bloody hell are you ?" I've decided to do a blog as a few people asked me about it and I thought it would also be a good indication to everyone that Grant & I are still alive and haven't been eaten by a crocodile.... It will also prove to Grant that I am no longer a technophobe and have well & truly 21st centurised myself. So check our blog throughout May to see where we've been & (hopefully) check out some ... read more

Arrived in Ryde just outside Sydney as we pick up Claire and JP the day after tomorrow and plan to head into the blue mountains with them for a little while. We haven't yet ventured into the city as we plan to book an apartment for a few days when the camper van goes back and will explore the city then. Having arrived at Lane Cove river tourist park we had a walk around the national park - we're turning into twitchers I think and are really enjoying the wildlife over here. Not really like the other walks we've done in national parks as the area seems to attract a lot of people from the city who come to do some heavy petting (Get a room!!) and / or have a BBQ whilst listening to really ... read more

Surfkamp Het surfkamp was heel leuk.
