Departing Australia today We begin our journey departing from our home in Sydney but we need to thank some amazing people who helped us get here. * My mum and dad, Kiki and Carl. * Janet and David and their gorgeous pets - Jedda, Sally, Roy and the two cats for letting us stay with them when we were homeless over Easter. Janet saved the day with her amazing packing technique 'the roll' allowed us to fit everything in effortlessly and still with room for any little extras we may find on our travels (e.g. a toothpick) * Greg and Mark for hosting our black Vespa, newly christened 'Vinny' while we are internationally based * Rob Elliott (the healer) who has looked after us for nearly 13 years with remedial massage * Dom, Heather, Liam & ... read more

Thursday 7th January So as we start the Australian chapter of our journey we have decided to that as we will both be working we will not be keeping a daily blog as it simply would not be as interesting to read as the past 3.5 months have hopefully been! We will however be keeping you updated on some of the things we get up to so please keep checking back and please keep us updated with all your news too. So what have we been up to since arriving in Australia? Upon arrival the customs officials took the dulce de leche with coconut (like a caramel syrup) off us as it was apparently a threat to Australian bio-security. I had bought it as a present for my mum, we’d carried it all the way from ... read more

I'm writing this journal entry from my friend Lisa's house located in the suburb of Sydney called Clovelly. This is my first nite NOT in Robin's place since I arrived in Sydney 1 week ago - last Sunday...I ended up staying at Robin's for 1 full week - it was so great! To be honest, I didn't do too much earlier in the week and mainly just lazed around the house enjoying all the space and the peace and quiet. I did manage to go to the movies twice, out for dinner, to a shopping center at Bondi Junction, to the Cronulla beach for an afternoon, and so on. I had a really relaxing week and thoroughly enjoyed the slower pace in comparison to the go-go-go sightseeing that I had been doing over the last month. ... read more

A quick blog to say MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all - thanks to everyone who sent us cards!!! We both finish work on Friday (so back to being unemployed!) and also move house again on the 28th Dec (so back to being homeless!). We're then crashing on a friends floor in Manly for a week before starting our East coast travels on the 4th Jan - maybe this'll be good practice for the 2 months we'll be sleeping in YHA's?? If I'm honest it'll mainly be in twin ensuite rooms because, well, this is me we're talking about, I'm much more your Hilton hotel type of girl!!!...so don't get me started on the 'swag bag' camping under Ayres Rock that Helen has talked me into. It'll be 40 degrees and fly season when we get there ... read more

The first few pictures are for our Mum's...see we're not living in squalor!!! As if I'd do that...if you can't plug in a hair dryer I'm not staying there..first rule of travel... We have however had a few unwelcome house guests in the shape of cockroaches the size of small rats. They are HUGE!! And for Helen's friends you'll have a vague idea of how she reacted one night when she came into the flat, kicked off her shoes and promptly stepped on one...all hell let loose. The cockroach wasn't too pleased either. If that wasn't funny enough she was cleaning her feet in the bath and another one scuttled over the edge of the tub...I have never seen anyone jump out of a bath so quick. And I must say Mrs Jones that you're daughter ... read more
