Bondi Beach

My flight to Sydney was at 7:15am and so the night before i decided to have an early night, however a few people in the room were drinking so i had a few which led to some more and then some drinking games which led to a night out in St. Kilda with some Irish girls.. I got back to my room around 4am and set 2 alarms so that i would wake up, but i didn't and was woken by one of the girls in my room at 6:50am.. I was still a bit pissed and quickly got dressed shoved most of my stuff in my bag and ran downstairs to catch a cab to the airport still thinking that maybe i would make the flight ha ha.. I arrived at the airport at 7:30am and so missed my flight and had to pay for another which turned out to be double the price of the first, but was at 8:15 so i didn't have to waitlong.. After i'd checked in my bags had a little panic about losing my passport and a drunken conversation with an old man it was time to board my flight.. The flight wasn't long about an hour and half i think?! ha ha.. I arrived in Sydney and got a cab to the hostle i'd booked into in Bondi Beach.. After checking in i went to bed and slept until the next day!!

I spent the next few days just wandering around, sitting by the beach and getting burnt.. I was thinking about looking for an apartment but never got round to it then i met a girl form Norway, Runa in the hostel who had a spare bed in her apartment so i went to take a look around.. I moved in the next day and all i needed now was a job which i thought would be pretty easy as there was alot of shops and restauramts around!! Also living in the apartment are 3 brazilians andrei, Giovanni and Lucas who are all surfers.. I was thinking of learning before i heard that the Australians call English surfers shark biscuits and around christmas some bloke got eaten by a shark in in Bondi, so thought i'd skip that idea.. That night i went out with a few poeple from the hostel to the shack and did the pub quiz which we won and got $50 and a free jug of beer for the best name :)..

There are loads of shops and restaurants around Bondi so i printed off a load of Cv's and waspretty confident i'd find a job, 2 hours later i wanted to shoot someone i'd handed out 5 CV's and none of them looked promising!! I spent the next few days wandering the streets asking in every bar. restaurant and shop i could find and found fuck all!! i decided that it might be a good idea to do the RSA course which allowed me to work in places that serve alcohol as most of them require you to have it!! i had to go into Sydney to do it and only realised once i got there that at the end of the course i had to take an exam and get more than 85% ha ha.. I had thought that i'd just daydream through the course and get the certificate now i actually had to listen, and it was closed book!! i was lucky though most of the people in the course couldn;t speak good english and at the break they said they didn;t understnad most of what the bloke was saying.. I must have sat in the wrong seat as i was the one the tutor picked on which was GREEEAAAATTT!!! I managed to pass the exam and got my certificate after sitting through 6 hours of why your not allowed to get drunk in a pub, the responsible amount of alcohol you are supposed to consume and why rounds are a bad idea?! I felt like i was in an AA meeting!! I got back to Bondi at around 10 and everyone was going out so i got changed and we went to a house party then a club and i broke every rule i'd just learned!!

The next few days i managed to get rid of 40 CV's but had not much lulck so just had to wait and see if any of them called so spent a few days on the beach.. We had a BBQ that weekend and had a few people over which was fun but everyone was either spanish of brazilian so most of the time i had no idea what the hell they were saying and just nodded and smiled andpretended i understood ha ha.. It was a laugh but the next day it was an absolute mess and as it was soo hot there were bugs and cockroaches everywhere!! I still hadn't heard anything from any jobs so went back to a few more places and they just said maybe next week again!! So after another poo week of job hunting Runa and i decided to buy a 4 litre box wine and get drunk, we had the music on probably too loud for a Monday night and ended up with the police making an appearance as one of the neighbours had complained oopss!! We had to read somehting i couldn't see and sign on an apparently straight line ha ha.. After that we went out to the Bondi hotel it was about 1am and a Monday so not so busy but we had a laugh anyway dancing around like idiots on our own.. Didn't feel so clever the next day and spent the whole day on the sofa whining for someone to go and get me a Mc Donald's coke with no luck!!

I've now spent a month in Bondi we had a heat wave last week when it got up to 43 degrees and was just too hot now it looks like it's going to rain for a week which is shit as there ain't much else to do here other than lay on the beach!! Runa's friends from Sweden are also staying with us for a week so we are 7 in a 3 bedroom apartment so a bit cramped.. Last night we had a movie night and tonight as it's Tuesday we get a free meal at the shack by pretending to be from the hostel :)..
