Canberra - Newcastle
Country roads lined with squishy bloody road kill… makes you wonder who is more stupid, the roos or the drivers…
Starting out with a 50c Enya cassette bought from the Salvos yesterday, and before I realise I am on my path and a luminescent fresh sea of green lies before me, and I’m restraining my tears… not sure what I’m feeling but something between leaving C behind and the joy of the open future… I find myself overwhelmed but mustn’t grieve here, too hard to drive between pools of tears…
Fields of radiant salvation jane/patterson’s curse glow across the hills and drifting clouds create dancing shadows over me. A horse nurses her foal. Sure I’ve seen the countryside before, but in this moment I’m seeing it like never before… I love moments like these…
Poor confused fridge in the back there has cooked my supplies but still, dodgy wiring better than no wiring :)
Joni Mitchell and cheery yellow wild flowers line the freeways... I’m back baby!
A bridge across densely green valleys (just before Mooney Mooney exit) comes from nowhere to take my breath away - these 10 seconds are more than words can
describe…
From a BP in Sydney, down Freeway 1 I find myself playing tag team with a red-bull offering little red buzzbox… highway to heaven is lined with angels in disguise and reassure me any time I doubt my path…
Tall trees surround ahhhh…
Sweaty palms, sweaty legs ick.
(Dixon Park/Beach)
Almost didn’t, for the sea was so cold it was instantly numbing… almost didn’t cos cereal & bread are so much easier… almost didn’t for fear of the world outside… but, I did! Because I am worth it - and this is what it is all about! Without this moment, there is nothing…
On I go on an early start to Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour, only 4 hours or so away. Another night’s camping then I will see my dad & family again for the first time in over 12 years!

Newcastle - Taree - Port Macquarie - Coff’s Harbour
At least Friday is lawn mowing day in Newcastle, always a pleasant smell, good distraction on my 30 minutes petrol cruise for gas!
Karuah river crossing very reminiscent of Kerala’s backwaters. And there’s me chanting along with Dr KJ Yesudas’, Kerala’s most well-known and long-time loved singer.
The jacaranda blossoms welcome me to river-town Taree.
Little birdie lying frozen on the highway, rescued from a squishy death although shock is sure to kill. What to do - nature is cruel.
(Emerald Beach)
Still I haven’t learned to park on even ground yet, oh woe is my back. Other than that all is good. Cooked a lovely meal and cuppa on my new gas burner. As for bums, mine's a tad sore from all this sitting...
