Hervey Bay The drive from 1770 was rubbish it was absolutely pelting it down, the roads were a bit more interesting though as we weren’t on the main highway, it took a bit longer though and we arrived in Hervey Bay at around 3ish.. Managed to book into a nice hostel own bathroom and TV/DVD :).. Went to the cinema in the evening to see ‘Four Holidays’ which is really good called ‘Four Christmas’ back home though I think?? Did a bit of shopping whilst there and hit the beach for a bit a really nice place, quite small.. Found a bar the last night and ended up doing the pub quiz with a couple of randoms who it turned out were as good as me and we came 2nd to last haha..
Gympie The drive to Gympie wasn’t too long only 130km really hilly place we were staying in a motel at the top which was a bit of a pain.. They had a main street with a few crappy little shops and that’s about it, wandered around the first day and then had a lazy day the nexy watched ellen and oprah ah ha loser!! Bit of a
slow place not a lot to do..
Surfer’s Paradise We intended on going to Brisbane from Gympie but ended up driving straight through as it’s just another city and didn’t fancy driving round it looking for somewhere to stay so ended up in Surfer’s Paradise.. We checked into a busy hostel right by the beach and main st.. It has it’s own bar, pool table, and pool so pretty snazzy.. The first night just stayed by the hostel bar where they had some music and a few people around, everyone got quite dressed up though so thinking maybe I should buy some nice clothes and actually brush my hair ha ha.. Went to the beach the following day for a bit was windy but nice not too hot, then met some people at the hostel and went to the river deck to drink some goon (cheap box wine ha ha).. Ended up really late didn’t sleep so at around 6am decided to drive to Ballina as Pete hadn’t drunk much..
Ballina A very quite place stayed in a YHA, which was a really nice place and the owners were quite friendly/nosey.. Had a nice kitchen, TV room and
was near the beach but the whole hostel shut up at 10:30 which was a bit poo as none of the bars in the high st were open either so we had to start drinking at around 4pm ha ha.. Stayed for 3 nights a nice relaxing place after being at surfer’s.. There were a few other people there not many some oldies as well but it was nice to have the kitchen to myself made some strange food with cheap stuff in the supermarket ha ha..
Nambucca Heads Up and out of Ballina early and onto Nambucca Heads back to one lane roads which was better, I swear they don’t know how to drive on the motorways, most of the way has been one lanes then we came near to a major city it went to three and they were crazy.. They still all drove at the same speed didn’t matter which lane they were in and they just pulled out on you one car nearly went sideways into another and I was cut up too many times to remember but noone toots you round here, I tooted someone at a green light just a light toot to
let him know and when he turned off he gave me the finger ha ha.. Thy drive really close as well, so they’ll either sit right up your arse when you move to let them passed they don’t or they’ll overtake you on the outside before you’ve had chance to move?! I was glad to get back to single lanes at least I know whats going on then!! Nambucca was smaller then Ballina and we checked into a motel with a pool overlooking the beach very nice or it would have been if it hadn’t of thundered ha ha..The first day was ok so I hit the pool topped up ye olde tan but the next day thundered so couldn’t do much, went to check out the cinema which looked like a wooden shack and the shopping plaza which had a total of 10 shops so ended up watching TV with a bag of Doritos J..
Terrigal We hadn’t intended on going to Terrigal, was on our way to Newcastle but when we got there there was no rooms so we thought we’d keep heading south and found Terrigal, a small seaside town but could only get a room
for one night.. Decided to pre book the next few days as Christmas was coming up as well.. So we’re going to Wollongong next til the 23rd then onto Narooma for Christmas up until the 28th then Melbourne for New Years.. After that I have no idea Pete is off to Tasmania on the 3rd Jan and I’m just gonna see where I end up have look for a job and an apartment?! Whilst in Terrigal we hit the only bar there which wasn’t great bit like a waterspoons no music and the cricket was on so stayed for a couple then headed back to the hostel.. On to Narooma next a small town only 6000 population hopefully the weather’s nice so we can hit the beach or we’ll be bored shitless!!
Wollongong We had already booked a room above a pub, but the maps in the planet aren’t so great so we had to park the car and take a walk.. We found it not far from the centre of town called ‘Dicey Riley’s’.. It was a Saturday night and there was a band playing downstairs from 9pm so spent the day wandering the town and then hit the bar.. They were rubbish with bad Australian humour, it’s one thing I’ve noticed about them they really aren’t funny.. Once the band had finished killing there songs we headed onto another bar with a few people we’d met in the bar, then from there onto a club, then I’m guessing food and home?? Woke up the next day craving toast but had nothing so raided the kitchen and managed to find some bread but no butter, for some reason thought that salsa would be a good substitute (clearly still pissed!), then made a quick exit back to my room with the goods, before falling back to sleep.. Spent the next couple of days round the town hit the beach went for a few walks..
Narooma Booked into a YHA for Christmas, arrived the day before Christmas Eve and settled into our dorm.. Met a few blokes from Liverpool Christmas eve who we had a drink with most of the day before heading up to the pub, was a fun night had a few too many drinks and on the way home stumbled across a trolley which I took a ride in the rest of the way home ha ha.. Felt like absolute crap most of Christmas day oops a few people had a bbq in the garden then I hit my room and watched a few DVD’s.. Got everyone’s texts and voicemails, thanks.. Not a lot to do around the town, the beach is really nice and there is a fishing lake but it was a bit cloudy so not really sun bathing weather!! One more stop after here before Melbourne for New Year haven’t booked anywhere so keeping our fingers crossed or it’ll be a night in the car ha ha..

Nancy,
In a trolley, No. Off your trolley definitely !. Sounds like you found some nice towns over the last few weeks. I guess you must now be in Melbourne, and hopefully settled in somewhere.
I have some photos of New Years eve at the Arms which I will get Jo to send to your face book. It was a good night and I think we all rolled out of there at around 3am and back to mine. I went asleep on the sofa within about 30 seconds on getting in which meant I missed food the inevitable the race for a bed. I woke in the middle of the night on the sofa, and went to the kitchen to get a drink. On the way back I went to pick up a blanket that was on a chair and just as I reached for it your mums head popped out, it scared the crap out of me so I found a coat and put that over me back on the sofa. I then woke up in the morning panicking co's my chest felt tight and could not breath properly only to find the reason for this was Joe was asleep at the other end of the sofa with his feet/legs lying on my chest. At that point I gave up and got up and made the tea.
Terry and I had the usual new years day beer but your Dad went home. Think he was slightly hung-over.
Anyway hope things are all well, be good and keep safe.
Al.
