Murwillumbah and Mt. Warning
Published: March 18th 2010Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » MurwillumbahAfter a lovely 4 days on the Gold Coast, and catching a bit of sun there I headed in to the mountains near Murwillumbah. What a breath of fresh air! The town was so laid back and had a hippy vibe going on. The hostel was situated on the Tweed River and had an excellent view of Mt. Warning. The hostel had the most character of any that I’ve stayed at so far. Most of the hostels are fairly large and impersonal. This one is ran by an old man known as Tassie; presumably because he is from Tasmania originally. But he now runs a hostel in the small town of Murwillumbah. The hostel is a converted house and each room is painted in different funky colors and patterns. There are funny blow-up and stuffed animals ... read more

Published: December 31st 2009Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » MurwillumbahG'day - how ya goin'? I'm afraid I'm rapidly turning into an easy-going Brit - compliments of Australia. But no worries, mate I still think the piss is piss and will never want to play Aussie Rules Footie. There, see? I've not gone soft - there's still plenty of bile left in this stomach. Next adventure - no time for philosophical treaties in a travel blog I'm afraid - nor am I getting paid to do this y'know. Prologue Australia is difficult to really see without a car, you don't come here to live in the city, you come here to see everything else; the views, the scenery, the wildlife, the countryside, the space and the natural environment. I've finally understood this. I am at one. Yom. I still don't have a driver's licence (at 29 ... read more
Waiting for the world adventure to begin
Published: December 5th 2009Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » MurwillumbahWell, what can i say? We have had issues with our mobile server with reducing the mobile ph contract from 2x$60/ month to a more smaller plan, but we have been cheated on the plan and we cant reduce the plans and we were told that we could. Now we will have to quarantine the number until we come back and i hope that I will not loose business over this as we will be fukn pissed off. I am also pissed off with the accountant as we have sent them our tax return 4 months ago and have called them twice on how it was going and they said they will get back to me, we didn’t hear anything from them as i went in today to make sure everything was fine for the next ... read more
Man feiert ihren Geburtstag hier in Australien 2 mal. Keine Ahnung warum.

Published: August 28th 2008Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » MurwillumbahAnother big goal completed! The City2Surf run on August 10, 2008, sponsored by the Sydney Morning Herald was a total blast! It was way more fun than I had expected. I read about the running race in my Lonely Planet Guide to Sydney before I came and the incentive....my name in the newspaper if I finished! I have to admit I was nervous leading up to the 14km race. Although the training schedule published by the City2Surf committee was taped to my wall, I hadn’t really followed it and was wondering if I would even finish. But we had a big pasta dinner on the Saturday night and walked down to the ferry for 7:30 am. There were so many people lined up to buy ferry tickets that it wasn’t going to be able to leave ... read more
Australia It is a lie - Australia is not a hot , dry dust bowl edged with sun baked golden beaches adorned by bronzed, muscle bound lifeguards - well not what we saw anyway. The beaches were akin to Bognor in the rain (Bridlington for our Northern readers!!) but with bigger waves, the Hinterland was green, lush and in flood from the constant rains that fell non-stop from Boxing Day until we left NSW in early January. Take a look at the photographic evidence for this !!!! That said we had great trip to Australia mostly visiting friends at Mullwillumbah in NSW, Noosa in Queensland, Sydney and Melbourne. Mullwillumbah is about 30 miles inland from Byron Bay about half way up the West Coast of Australia. We spent an entertaining three weeks there with Tony and ... read more

Arriving in Cairns, we stayed at Catherine’s (Jack’s ex-colleague) helping her move in to her beautiful new, fully-renovated old Queenslander .There was only enough time for the truck to have a bath before flying down to Brisbane then on to Kyogle for my sister’s wedding. It was lovely to see all the family again, my sister looking beautiful in her wedding gown, (Rog looked pretty smart too). The wedding and reception were both at the farm and everything went very well except for a very mad German photographer who bossed everyone around and tried to take photos of everyone and everything in sight. ... read more
