Ozland

We made it to Australia! We were allowed in, no questions asked, well apart to see the soles of our shoes cos we were trekking in Thailand but everything was ok and we are here!!

Arrived at our hostel in Syndey near Kings Cross, what a sh*t hole! Our room was like someones bedroom (maybe even mine!) but ten times worse!! We were sharing with 2 asian guys and a girl and some other guy. I think the asians were actually living in the room and went to Uni in Oz.

Anyway, our first day we headed straight to the harbour, i had to see Harbour Bridge and Opera House, isn't that what everyone comes to Sydney for?! We took the typical tourist photos and actually met someone who went to the Harris (how funny is that!). We then did the typical backpacker thing and feel asleep on a bench! We thought we best move on and went to Hyde Park and guess what...we fell asleep there too! Second day we went to the Sydney Aquarium, we needed to see the sharks and we did! We even went on a glass bottom boat, the Shark Explorer! Day 3 i took Nicola on a walk (for miles) i did know where i was going, kind of, but didn't realise how far it was, never mind we stopped and had a picnic!

We are now in Manly, took the ferry from Sydney, only takes about 30 minutes. This place is beautiful. Our hostel, BoardRiders is right at the beach! Basically it's full of surfers and wannabes! Nicola took some surf lessons today but i'm still not brave enough, can't get rid of my fear of sharks!

Yesterday we met up with Nicola's mums friend who lives out here. Jane and her husband Steve took us to a bbq to meet some of their friends. It was great fun. The house was only about 20 minutes from the city but it was like being in the bush, the views were amazing! We were the novelty of the night but it was a good laugh. A few stories were told to scare us. We were on VB and XXXX, it was the cheapest to buy, plus we actually quite like it now! We had a game of tennis, 3 against 3, i had tennis racket in one hand and a beer in the other, true ozzy style!!

Having great fun here, the beach is great. It's only coming into the summer here, so the weather is great, not too hot yet but i'm sure it will get very hot!
