Update on what we have been up to
Published: June 23rd 2006Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » KatoombaSo, it has been a while since our last entry, mainly because we have just been chilling out and being a bit lazy about going out and about! It is freezing cold over here, which is very very bizarre considering it is June! The time difference is playing around with us now, as we have to watch the footie matches at 5am or else video them . . . but at least we don't have to take sickies to see them! We have been a bit more active the last few weeks and so these photo's will give you some idea what we have been up to and to reassure some of you that we haven't fallen off the end of the earth! ... read more
Wildlife Park and Blue Mountains
Published: June 21st 2006Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » KatoombaAfter much needed sleep and sleeping through the weird hours due to jetlag, I was well rested for the next adventure! Off to featherdale wildlife park to play with the koalas and kangaroos! So incredibly cute and furry! We also got to see the tazmanian devils (since they are normally sleeping all the time)! Afterwards up to the Blue Mountains! First into Leura for a quick drive around, then through the winding roads to the Solitary restaurant with amazing views of the canyon. After lunch, to the Three Sisters and then the highlight, the chocolate store for REAL hot chocolate! Enjoy the pics. I'm too tired after today's adventure to write anything more! ... read more
I went to pick the car up first thing in the morning; I finally got it at 11am. It’s a huge great Ford Falcon Station Wagon. It was a good job the car was big as I was heading to the Blue Mountains with Carol Anne who I met back up with the day before, an English guy called Rich and an American called Michelle. We made good time to the Blue Mountains but as we left Sydney the weather started to get worse. The town on Katoomba is 1000 meters up in the mountains and shrouded in fog. Before we got there though we went to Wentworth Falls. Despite the drizzle and blanket of fog we took the walking track down the cliff. This track literally was carved into the side of the cliff and ... read more

Blue Mountains & Newcastle (wye aye' man!!!)
Published: June 3rd 2006Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » KatoombaWednesday 3rd May we caught the train from Sydney to the Blue Mountains. We had booked into a hostel in Katoomba (the main town of the Blue Mountains). It only took a couple of hours so we had arrived by lunchtime. The train ticket included 3 days on the sightseeing bus so, once we had checked in and dumped our bags, we walked up the road to catch the (London) sightseeing bus. We sat on the top deck (luckily it wasn't an open-top bus as it was freezing!!!) The plan was to stay on the bus a full circuit so that we could get our bearings and decide where to go properly the next day. However, what we would soon realise later on, was that everytime we caught the bus we seemed to catch it just ... read more
Hello all, How's everybody? I'm having a blast out here and i'm going to try and fit it all in this email. I'm meeting people from all over the world out here especially english and german folk. I'm still trying to sort our right from left with the traffic, even on walking paths i find myself on the right getting in people's way and even the dog's pass me by on the left. I stayed in sydney my first two nights. I went an saw downtown the first day, the opera house and the whole bit. The public transit system is great out here with all the trains and ferry's although it's not exactly cheap, i'm finding nothing really is. I went snorkeling up north of sydney in manly the next day which was fun as ... read more
Well, all good things must come to an end including long vacations. We're jumping on a plane home soon. The benefit of a extra long vacation though, is that you are actually looking forward to some things at home like your own bed and having a home. Moving every 2 days gets tiring. I don't know how people travel for months on end. We were at Byron Bay for the last few days. Byron is a very cool place that was a little different than I thought it might be. For example, we stayed at The Arts Factory which is a 5 acre site that started the Byron Bay boom of arts and music and hippies. Naturally, I thought we would be living in a hippie commune but there was surprisingly few hippies. It turns out ... read more

It is just past midnight, and later today, we must leave these shores and travel far, far away... Just get over us okay... what are you? in love with us or something? its pathetic :) Anyway, we have had a great final night at the legendary 'Alex Hotel Friday Night Gay Night'... Not to mention it was watson's birthday, so there was much goodness to be had! I feel very shocked that after waiting so long for the day to come, I am actually a bit nervous... but I am sure that this feeeling will pass once we are on the plane and on our way. I will miss everyone heaps. Kristy says Hi, she wont miss any of you, now she cares only for Stella Artois (available in France ... read more
