I forgot something from Sydney...just the minor event of going to the Blue Mountains...well actually they are a valley like the Grand Canyon. Little fact for you! Pretty spectacular place, you get to see some Kangaroos, some valleys, some trees, some more valleys, some more trees and three sisters. Amazing stuff! Didn't get lost either, unlike some British tourist from a few weeks back...mind you if we had we could have sold the story to the Aussie press and been accused of faking the whole thing :-)
After leaving Sydney we headed to Byron Bay (via coach and that's all i'm going to say on the matter). Only problem was that we arrived to find out some minor festival was going on....it was the Aussie version of Glastonbury and accommodation was a little hard to come by. But we managed...by paying double the standard price for a room. Pesky, thieving Aussies for ya!
Byron Bay has so far the been the best place. Very chilled out by spending most of the days sat on the beach lapping up the sun. Mucho fun...especially after the purchase of a frisbee. But i have established that i have the frisbee skills of a napkin! But i'm learning :-)
Strolled to the lighthouse on one of the days. Was a good walk! Got to see a lot of wildlife, including some hawks (either that or one giant seagul). Also saw a whale! Yep...an actual whale! No idea what kind of whale it was as it was quite far out, so i'm going to say it's a humpback whale as it sounds more impressive than any other whale. The lighthouse itself was..well..slightly dull and not worth the stairs to get there. Think from now on lighthouses should be build at the bottom of hills to make it easier for tourists. Never mind the boats, it's all about the tourists.
Think that about covers it for Byron Bay...was definitely a chilled out three days (despite the hordes of youngsters smashed on booze and drugs).
Next port of call is Chav Paradise...YAY!!!!
