• Today we drove to Bourke by lunchtime with the intention of driving town the Darling River. But after calling into the info centre were told the road is closed due to rain. It may be open tomorrow, so we decided to stay at the Kidman Camp overnight and try tomorrow. It is so sad to see how dry the country was tghee we. Poor sheep and cattle everywhere. However at Bourke is nice and green due to recent rains. Time to catch up on washing etc. beautiful pool area. 2 pools, one of which had a baby tiger snake swimming in. I had to rescue it, flicked it out but it wasn't very grateful, sat up and dated me to approach.

It\'s a hard life! :) Please send the rain back to us as only had pathetic showers. Was the official opening of the maternity this morning. Great turn out and very enthusiastic audience. Campbell Newman didn\'t make it, which was a pity as he might have brought the rain. 5 babies born so far. Pat
