Day trip to Katoomba My parents were visiting the Blue Mountains for a couple of days, so I drove from Sydney up to Katoomba and met up with them for the day. It was a spectacular day (I got sunburnt on my shoulders in 30 mins) and then we watched a storm brew to the west. Katoomba When I first got to Katoomba, we did a lap of the main street. It's very steep. On the way back up we stopped for lunch at the Paragon Cafe, andI had one of their Chicken Burgers. The beetroot relish on it was delish! Our second stop was Echo Point, to see the 3 Sisters as it's been quite some time since I have been a tourist up in the Blue Mountains. It was very busy with all the ... read more

Our day started of by going to the tourist information in blackheath to try and find a walk to do as the weather was so cloudy and mizzily! The lady at the tourist information recommended us to walk down into some caves but after the first km we decided the path was too wet and there may be snakes around so we turned back!we decided to go to the wentworth falls and see if we could see anything around there!so glad we did-as once we walked about 5km down some steep steps we had such an amazing view of the falls and also got to see the 3 sisters!! We were both a bit wet and sweaty but decided to go get a cup of tea in katoomba as a reward! Also bought Taylor swift cd ... read more

New Year's Eve, eve We got up about 8/20 and tidied the apartment! We were very sad to leave it, it's lovely! We said good I to Jack &Di the owners - who thought Andy had a very cool job and head out for the blue mountains! We got to katoomba about 11:30 and decided we needed some food! Hubster had a big brekkie and I had a king prawn open sandwich with salad which was omg amazing!! Sorry I know I'm a total foodie addict! After our brunch we headed out to the area with the skylift - and wished we hadn't bothered! There were no available rides until after 5pm! So we the ought we'd go to see the '3 sisters' again no point the roads just weren't moving :( so we gave up ... read more

Leaving Coolah Tops was difficult when we had had such amazing experiences with the kangaroos and parrots. We were tempted to stay a second day to really explore the park which had been so difficult to get to. This temptation was tempered by two things... firstly, a second day without power would drain our battery and the fridge containing a lot of meat would turn off; and secondly, the gentle rain which had started was threatening to get heavier and we were worried it would make the road down even more difficult. We were also keen to get to the Blue Mountains which we were planning to spend a few days exploring. The drive there was uneventful but felt very long, coming straight after the descent from The Tops. We arrived in the town of Katoomba ... read more

July 12th2015 Lawson, NSW, Australia ….the presence of anguish is an opportunity for understanding..... the presence of craving is an opportunity for letting go..... But no sooner is it glimpsed than it is gone. Cessation of craving is like a momentary gap in the clouds. The sun shines brilliantly for a few minutes, only to be covered over again. We find ourselves back in the humbling fog of anguish, craving, habit, restlessness, distraction. But with a difference: now we know where this track goes. We have set foot in the territory for which these words are just a map. Stephen Batchelor: Buddhism without Beliefs All my life's a circle.... It seems like I've been here before.. We had planned on escaping the city for awhile and going away in our motorhome for a break for couple of days. Not really wanting to go that far away, we thought somewhere within a couple of hours’ drive would suffice, perhaps down the south coast to Kiama or Kangaroo Valley in the southern highlands. It had been lovely weather for weeks, in fact, only a couple of days previously, we had still been experiencing an Indian summer again this year, with days of 29 deg and 32 deg - temperatures far too high for this time of the year. We had looked forward to our little adventure for the last couple of weeks – it would be fun to get away in our motorhome again for a few days, as we hadn’t been away in ... read more

Nick: On Monday morning, the air bright and crisp, we said goodbye to our Sydney hostel for the last time and made our way to the area around the international airport, to pick up our hire car. For the next eleven days, we would have the services of a silver Toyota Camry to deliver us from place to place. Although we had a rough idea of some of the destinations we planned to visit, we hadn't booked any accommodation and as such the road trip was something of a blank canvas - the only requirement being that we were in Brisbane by the 21st May to return the car. Since Brisbane is located north of Sydney, some distance up the Pacific coast, the idea was to make our way up there slowly, stopping for a day ... read more

Today was our big trip to the blue mountains. An early 6am rising to catch the coach. It poured down. When we reached the mointains we could see nothing. The first cable car across a 1000 foot valley was unexciting as visibility was zero. We then went down into the valley and this was clear as if the trees formed a roof. The journey down into the valley was by the steepest railway in the world and back up by Australia's largest cable car. By lunchtime the fog had been burnt off and the area could be truly appreciated. The eucalyptus really do give off a blue haze which gives the mountains their name. Next came a 30 minute aboriginal pageant, educational but not as good as the Moari one we went to in Christchurch. Then ... read more

Hi everyone, yesterday got up really early and caught the train to The Blue Mountains, took 2 hours to get there, we got off at Katoomba. Realised it was very different weather after leaving the city where it was hot, coming into the mountains it was raining and foggy. We were'nt really dressed for this, but hoped that it would clear up. Of course it didn't, the whole day was a wash out. We did the hop on hop off bus, which was really good, the two drivers John and Jimmy had very funny stories to tell and were very helpful giving us the best way to do the circuit. However it was like going up The Shard, the very first time which was in a snow cloud !! This was exactly the same, except it ... read more
