Hello All,
Well, the last time we wrote we were coming to the end of our stay in Melbourne before heading out to the bright lights of Sydney! However, before we left we spent the day in the city centre sunshine chilling out and watching the street entertainers in Federation Square.......and then guess who got pulled from the crowd to "perform" with the worst entertainer of the day....yep, you guessed it - me, Ally! From a crowd of over 200 people I got pulled out, had to put on a big black wig and dance 70's style with a chunky man (the 'entertainer') who was dressed in nothing but a purple lycra cat suit and wig!! Ohh how we laughed........! :)
Then on to Sydney it was, 12 hours on the bus overnight and a short tube ride the other end we arrived at our first hostel - Mates Place - DO NOT STAY HERE! It was a horrible place that we couldnt wait to get out of, luckily we only had two nights booked there before we could move on. While we were in Sydney we checked out the sights of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge and
lapped up the sunshine for a few days. We also spent the day on a cliff top walk from Watsons Bay to Bondi where we spent the afternoon chilling out on the beach - where after watching Bondi Rescue on TV before we left, we were dissapointed not to see any action from the lifeguards or even one celebrity! However, things have perked up slightly as we have now had "Shrimp on the barbie"...twice!! (....And Kangaroo kebabs which were pretty good!)
After our 10 ish days in Melbourne and 4 days in Sydney we felt all city'd out so headed up into the Blue Mountains for fresh air and peace and quiet (and also to save money!). We have now been up here for about two weeks and have been chilling out and taking in the scenery with walks through the mountains, on the cliffs and into the valleys where we have seen beautiful scenery and amazing waterfalls! We have also met some great people since we have been up here from Belgium, France and the Czech Republic!
We will soon be heading back down to Sydney for Christmas and New Year for 10 days before hoping
to get some work in early January. As you probably know, we were planning on spending around 6 months in Oz but have changed our plans and are now booked to head out early to South America and fly in late March 09 instead.
Well, short and sweet this time and we hope things are all good at home and Christmas planning is going well! Stay in touch and speak soon,
Ally and Alice xx
