We awoke early on this day! We are packed and ready for the "Trip of a Lifetime" to begin! Our son, Brien, will be taking us to the airport using our vehicle. We load the Explorer and realize the luggage is more than we thought! The big case, one smaller carry on and the carry on bag fill the back of the Explorer. Okay we are packed and ready to head out earlier than anticipated! Off we go to get Brien and his wife, Jeannette! They drop us off curb side at the airport. We are off to a good start!... read more

"On the road again.... Just can't wait to get on the road again"
Published: May 2nd 2013North America » United States » ArizonaSummer is almost here again and it's time for Sally and I to hit the road. We had such a fantastic time camping in Connecticut last year with friends and family that we will be returning to New England again this year. We have added another month to this years trip since it was still a little too warm when we came back home last September. We will be leaving around the 27th of May and will return home sometime mid to late October. I was a little uncertain about blogging this years trip but we have had so many people tell us they enjoyed last years blogs and that we should do it again this year. So.... thanks for traveling with us again this year and we hope you enjoy the trip as much as ... read more
Golden Gate Bridge
San Dies, USA Wednesday, May 1, 2013 I still have a cold. We went out this morning, first thing and hopped on a 25 miles, 2 hour Trolley tour of San Diego and Coronado Island. These are lovely cities. We came home for lunch and I am now resting, Terry went out to check out the Midway next door and call his mom. We plan to go out this afternoon to buy wine for the next few days. Well, Terry had oysters again today before our second trolley ride and again after while I enjoyed my first California Margarita this trip; we remember fondly our “birdbath size Margarita from many years ago. I saw the doctor for my “cold”, there is a virus g... read more

Our first casuality
Published: May 2nd 2013North America » United States » California » Half Moon BayOn our first day at the host camp site, we went to town for a little shopping. When we got back we found the motor home drivers side winter shattered. It looked like a rock hit it at a high speed. The grass had been cut that day and the Ranger thought that it could be that. (I hope, I hope). I got an estimate for a new window $1625. I have $500 deductible insurance so I hope the state comes through... read more

Palenque is such a very small city. The most interesting stuff is everything around this city. The best option is to get to Vilahermosa, Tabasco airport (It is very closed to Palenque, around 2 hours and a half). I stayed in a very cute hostel (and very cheap as well). It is really worth it, the name is Yaxkin Hostel. Once I arrived to Palenque, I paid for my two trips (there are lots of travel agencies in te city or even in the hotel, they offered daily tours). My fisrt tour was Bonampak and Yaxchillan. For doing this, I really have to be awake since 5:00 am, the trip starts at 6:00 am. Bonampak and Yaxchillan are a little bit far from Palenque (around 3 hours). I really loved this trip; it is being in ... read more
San Cristóbal de las Casas
Published: May 1st 2013North America » Mexico » Chiapas » San Cristobal de las CasasI fell in love with this place. In fact, if in a moment in my life I decide to quit to everythimg, I would choose San Cristobal to spend at least 3 moths. This is a multicultural city: indigenous, mexicans, american, european. Everybody is here. You can find from the cheapest places to eat, to the most expensive. What to do: To get lost in all those small streets, going from store to store, restaurants, museums, or only spending time in downtown listening to the Marimba music. Marimba is an special and typical music in Chiapas. Around San Cristóbal, you cand find Zincantan and San Juan Chamula. Very small indiginous communities, with particular religious traditions: kind of mix between catholicism and maya. Quite interesting. (It is forbidden to take pictures inside theses churches)... read more
