Hello everyone! Thanks very much to everyone for the lovely emails, we are sitting in an internet café/Juice Bar (Liz is having carrot, spinach, beet (!), celery and coriander, love it!) in San Francisco waiting to pick up our hire car and drive south to LA for Friday where we are catching a flight to Tahiti! Can’t believe we are leaving San Francisco already both think we should have had a few more days here, it is such an amazing city, here are some highlights.. Arrived on Monday after 10 hours on the plane from Heathrow, flew with Virgin which was [View Full Entry]

This is us on a recent trip to Jamaica!
Greetings! 7 months and 15 days is the time left until we depart. So this travel blog is being started a little bit early, but I'm sure there will be a few things along the road of planning that I'd like to journal. Life is a bit hectic right now. We are moving into a new house on February 10th! Which means we are in the midst of packing everything and that's a pain. I'll introduce my family: Me (Erin) - 24, unemployed right now and searching for my "niche" I guess. I'm hoping this trip will push me outside my [View Full Entry]

James in the Master Bedroom
Now, in an abandoned house. The ocean winds blow through it making a blend with the sea. "James" continues to take photos...he could be arrested for trespassing here. He knows this. It is exciting! He has been here before. DeJa Vu Each time James goes to dismantle this blog, he discovers something, or someone, else that is interesting! This blog is like a tapestry or fine silk carpet from Kashmir, pull out one string and the beauty is less. No one on this site, self included, is to be judged, rather observed. All are interesting and contribute to the beauty of [View Full Entry]

My going away celbration at the bowling alley
Today is my last day in L.A. I’ve had a relaxing time here, hanging out with a couple old friends. It’s been a little on the chilly side here. It even rained a bit when I first got in. I got plenty of hot weather ahead of me so I’m not complaining too much. But after 28 days in a row of rain at home I was looking forward to some warm weather. Is it still raining in Seattle? I’ve done a little touristy stuff while I was here. I went and saw a Jay Lenno and Carson Daily show [View Full Entry]

CHIAPAS - GETTING THERE “Getting there” turned out to more complicated than I thought! I traveled with a group that was put together by Stan a pastor with the United Church of Christ. His goal is to provide opportunities for individuals to see first hand the how their participation in Fair Trade projects benefit the small farmers. This particular trip used resources and contacts from, Witness for Peace, a peace advocacy group based in Washington DC, and Equal Exchange a coffee importer, processor and distributor. After my application was accepted I received a travel adviso [View Full Entry]

They are the appliances designed to make my life easier. With their space-age technology and state-of-the-art electronics they are supposed to make me more productive, my life more efficient, and allow me more free time. These devices, by shouldering the burden of the many mundane tasks that busied up the lives of the previous generations, are supposed to give me the peace of mind to know that I am in control of my life. Instead, I'm going nuts because I can't get the damned clocks on even TWO of these so-called "miracle devices" to display a time within five minutes of [View Full Entry]

Another hard day's rocking ending in me headbutting the packed powder slope - very thankful I was wearing my helmet. This evening instead of drinking and playing poker (a nightly event in the house) we are going to educate our minds with a talk from the Whistler Naturalists entitled 'Pineapples, powder and precipitation' - basically about weather patterns and which ones to look out for. I applied for a non-profit consultant job today, but think it would be a long-shot - we'll see. Yesterday was sunny, but because of a late night out we didn't get out and I'm not sure [View Full Entry]
