Fat Cat
Fat Cat
This was the biggest cat I had ever seen. This was taken at Moo Shoes, a vegan shoe store.
Roaches and mice!...... Yes, that’s right - we found a mouse in our stove today (not the oven, but the stove) - and the only reason we were looking in our stove was to set a roach bomb to kill the roaches that are living in our kitchen (especially in our stove). At least we are getting the true New York experience, right? Other than that things are good here. It’s been freezing cold - I mean so cold your face hurts when the wind blows. Last night we saw Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre. The theatre was [View Full Entry]

The parade

The parade

I got home on Monday. Jeff picked me up from the airport =) It was so cute cuz he was waiting for me with a sign that read "Poopie" (our nickname for eachother). It was a very long flight, and I was so glad to land. I was starting to feel a bit nauseous again (I've been feeling that way for the past week!) Got home and was soooo tired. I couldn't really sleep much on the plane. The guy next to me was practically on my seat! And he spilled orange juice all over me as we were landing. I [View Full Entry]

Well, after some thinking I have changed a few things. With considerations to money and time I have changed my itinerary, and for the better, I think. As of tonight (and could easily change) my itinerary looks something like this: London - 3 days Amsterdam - 4 days Berlin - 4 days Prague - 4 days Munich - 4 days Paris - 4 days Cinque Terre - 4 days Venice - 4 days Florence - 3 days (maybe even 2, ive heard its quite boring there) Rome - 4 days (maybe a little more) Athens - 3 days Egypt - 3 [View Full Entry]

Adam and The RIg
Adam and The RIg
Leaving North Carolina
It didn't seem like we were ever going to finish tying up loose ends but we did. Maybe we just threw in the towel, but whatever. At 2:45 yesterday after noon we fired up the rig and headed up Murrayhill for the last time. And at 3:01pm we got on 85 south. The journey has begun. I couldn't speak for at least an hour except for an occasional, "uh huh" when Adam would say, "Isn't this great!" I don't know why, maybe it was disbelief, or maybe I was soaking it all in. Probably a little bit of both. I have [View Full Entry]

Well for the last stop on my tour I'm in Los Angeles, home to the rich and famous! I'm staying just off Hollywood Blvd and the Hostel arranged a trip up to Ranyon Canyon. From here you can see most of LA and there is a great view of the Hollywood sign. But if they had told me as well as the $6 I paid that I had to walk up a hill to see it I wouldn't have bothered. But if I'm honest the view was something and it's also a great way too meet people plus it proved I'm [View Full Entry]

24 anyone? With a beautiful and manly Jack Bauer and an incredible story line.. 24 has taken over my life. Its quite interesting to see that on Monday nights, my friends and I drop everything we are doing to rush over to watch 24 together. So, its interesting, 24 hours in a day, the intensity of terrorist attacks; however, its funny that our everyday lives are completely different from what we watch on television. How real is reality TV? Media, entertainment, and the music industry? CONSUMES MY LIFE. My roommate subscribes to almost every magazine telling you how to look like, [View Full Entry]

Fabulous windy scenic roads
Fabulous windy scenic roads
Made Lou a bit sick :-(
Got up, checked out, then discovered that the hostel computer was stuck on 'free-vend' so we abused the free internet access and updated this rather interesting and witty travel blog until 2pm. The drive to San Francisco started out on a long and windy country road through some beautiful scenery of lakes and valleys but the constant swaying of the car made Louisa feel sickly, I felt a bit queasy too! Along the way we nearly got lost in Modesdo but eventually made it to San Francisco just in time for rush hour, nice. We drove over the bridge into downtown [View Full Entry]

Ive been thinking about all the different immigrants we have talked about this week and i can definitly relate it to today. i think of myself and everything i do as American. however, whenever people talk about what nationality they are, no one ever says "American." its usually Irish, Italian, Hispanic, German, Chinese and a lot of others. even food: when most people think of American food, they think of a cheeseburger and fries. i know hardly anyone eats this every night for dinner. many families cook something their parents have made that probably originated from the same country they d [View Full Entry]
