Day 3 When I checked the weather I was pleasantly surprised to find the weather report said no rain and temp = 70 – perfect riding weather. It was cloudy, but not raining so I I loaded the bike, and put my airwing on the seat and went in to eat breakfast. I heard someone say – its raining and I turned around and sure enough it was raining. My seat was soaked. I dried it off as best I could, but my butt still got wet. The rain blew past and it looked like it wasn’t going to rain again so I started to ride. I rode through several little drizzles, each time I saying to myself, this is the last one, it is clear ahead, I wont put on my rain gear – which ... read more
Last two days in Vegas went by in flash- Suz and Tracie flew to join me on Thursday and there was lots more walking up and down the Strip day and night to see the Bellagio Fountains ( 3or 4 times), Caesar's Palace not to mention the volcano at the Mirage...and for those of you who havent seen my FB page the great news that my $10 stake ( whch Richard had sent me- saying I had to make a bet) was turned into $100 on the roulette wheel at Caesars Casino !!!! Nobody was more surprised than me - I followed Pat's advice and stuck to one colour - and RED kept coming up...I also had a hunch when to quit before I lost it all again. I can see how people get hooked on ... read more
Funny how you don't think it will ever come, and even when it does, it doesn't seem real. We are currently at the airport. Due to past mishaps we,ve given ourselves a lot of time. The whisky and water have been purchased and we have 20 minutes till boarding. Our bags have disappeared down the conveyor belt at check in, the shuttle has been booked for the other end, so, armed only with our passports, tickets and the above drink, there is nothing more to do other than board the plane bound for Los Angeles....... read more
Day 4 - Almost uneventful day
Published: May 5th 2013North America » United States » Arizona » TucsonIt was a little chilly when we got up this morning in Las Cruces, but it quickly warmed up by the time we hit the road around 8. We had just hit the road after stopping for gas when Jon & Joyce called out on the radio that their tire monitor system alarm had gone off. Yep, the tire that replaced the one that blew was quickly going down... Jon and Joe are now experts at changing an RV tire. Joyce and I are thinking about hiring them out along the way to make extra money for the trip... LOL Needless to say once we arrived in Tucson, Jon went to Discount tire and had 4 new tires put on their rig. The sad part is the tires they had on their rig had only 3,000 ... read more
Sunday dawned with bright sun and a touch of warmth. It was going to be a beautiful day to be married. We had the rehearsal behind us, many family members and friends had arrived the day before and come to the house, and the groomsmen and Kris had spent the night away and were awaiting my call to come back and get changed. First the hairdressers came and proceeded to do Kim and Autumn's hair. We were staying in the RV next to the house to be out of the way, but one step in and you knew what was transpiring....spray, goo, blow dryers, smell.....yep, hair getting done. Once hair was set and ladies dressed, Kim, Autumn, and Kris's mother left for the Purple Iris. That gave Trish and me a chance to take a shower ... read more

Day 1 When I woke up, it was 40 degrees, so to delay things a little Chris & I went to breakfast, hoping that it would be a little warmer afterwards. It was a little warmer, but still quite chilly. It was pretty much cold all day. To make matters worse, I caught a cold the night before. Definitely not ideal conditions for riding a motorcycle, but tolerable. I ran into a bit of traffic near the 295-76 merge, but after that traffic was pretty light for most of the day. I rode down rt 113 instead of rt 13 in Delaware because I thought it would be more scenic. I was wrong, Delaware is pretty bland regardless or of which route you take. As I rode into the Delmarva Peninsula it became quite windy, not ... read more
Our first day.....peered out of the glass door to check out the main house and garden. James had put both bikes out for us, and they sat gleaming in the sun waiting for us. They look as good as they did in the photos. The Tuckers are wonderfully friendly and helpful and we spent most of the day shopping with James for bike and camping gear. We bought 2 helmets, one flip top one plain full face, pair of smart gloves for me. Tried on a smart pair of boots, right size, comfortable, good price, but the zip jammed and I got stuck in them! James, Jim and the shop assistant all had a go trying to unjam it, and got there eventually. They are going to get another pair in for Monday, which is when ... read more
Had a few problems with accessing the internet here, hence the rather slow updates of this blog. Messed about and finally got it up and running. Its difficult to donate much time to it, with bikes to ride in the Californian sun, more things to buy, not to mention the socialising! 3rd May - I was woken up with the sound of tools, by the time I was up and dressed, James had the front wheel off my bike and taken it to get the tyre replaced, as it was cracked. After breakfast, which is brought to us sitting outside in the sun, we refitted the front wheel with the new tyre. I then went off with Colleen to purchase our bedding and other bits and pieces. The two boys stayed working on the bikes, organising ... read more
Island to Island, Hostel to Hostel
Published: May 5th 2013North America » Canada » Prince Edward IslandCape Breton was kind of miserable the first day we were there, it rained most of the afternoon and the rest of the day was cloudy. We drove to Sydney stopping to see the Alexander Graham Bell site...but it was closed. The scenery probably would have been nice in the sunshine but in the rain things just felt dull. So in Sydney we went to the mall. What do else do you do on a rainy day? Well, lots of things, but it was nice just to go wander the mall. We drove back west through a different route and it was much sunnier the next day. The scenery seemed so much prettier! We passed through Antigonish and stopped at cape st. george to see the lighthouse, then drove along the coast until we reached New ... read more
I LOVE NEW YORK!!
Published: May 7th 2013North America » United States » New York » New York » ManhattanHey! So, Sunday, I got up at 0630, in order to leave at 0730 for the train station at Wassaic, New York State. I drove there - didn't realise how close we are to the New York State border, and when I got to the station, I learnt very quickly that it's not just us in the UK who are victim to the 'Sunday rail-replacement bus service due to engineering works'. The bus wasn't due for ages, so I decided 'to hell with it - I'll be brave and DRIVE to NYC!'. Having programmed a random address in Brooklyn (something like 16 5th Avenue!) into the SatNav, I set off. Stopped at a gas station to fill up with petrol and coffee and then drove the two and a bit hours on the interstate - quite ... read more
