Tom White Linear Trail (Moultrie Trail) - Moultrie Georgia
Text and Photos last updated: 2013
Number of times I have biked this trail: 2
Location:
Moultrie, Georgia Distance:
11.5 km (7.2 miles) Distance markers: yes
Surface: asphalt
Width: 3 metres
Grade:
Flat Condition of trail:
good Parking: yes
Water: one fountain
Washrooms: no
Garbage containers: at covered rest/staging areas
Rest Areas: yes
Trail marking: at the end with map
Parking: The parking and staging area is located at the intersection of
South Main Street and Lower Meigs Road – look for the shell station
( GPS: N31 09 07.3 W083 47 26.) This is a short local trail in the town of
Moultrie Georgia (southwest of Tifton) Locally it is called the
Tom White Trail, but I have seen it called simply the “Moultrie Trail”
The trail goes south from the parking lot for 8 km (5 miles to the
Municipal airport) where there is also parking. It appears as if 2 more miles have been added going north towards town since the mileage markers are numbered differently
here.
There are 4 covered rest areas with one fountain, but all are within the first mile or two of the parking lot. No washrooms on the trail.
This is not a rail trail but it is flat. The two miles south from the airport are the most secluded parts of the trail. There are some covered benches and a fountain, but all are close to the staging/parking area.
