Good day to you....yes, YL I do check email each time i get to a puter :).
Trip from Junction to Bracketville was really neat; we had the road to ourselves! It was turney and twisty at times. in Tx after the amin red roads on a map, you get ones marked like FM1678 .These are Farm to Market roads. The next ones with hardly any shoulder are RR. we were on RR674. a RR is "ranch road. The Alamo village, where we were headed was 6 mi. N of Bracketville. It was located on a wide open area. We paid at the gate (around $18.00 for 2) and then drove another 2 mi to get to the 2 displays they had there that were "movie sets"; the one was a town with 29 or so buildings. We were the only tourists there practically (2 other couples ); so mostly staff. The west Texas winds were whistling thru. The "town" was just like you see in movies, only very still and quiet. No horses tied up at the saloon. The more interesting part was the "Mission-Fortress" that HAD BEEN CONSTRUCTED for the Alamo movie with John Wayne. We saw the real Alamo location in San antonio but this created one was much more realistic. Mainly because it was in the open , instead of in the middle of a city. We leaft and were in Del Rio by 2 pm. It was sunny and 70 F. Del Rio is flat ; but all trees were fully open with leaves; many a nice spring green colour. And one kind of tall , like a poplar , green evergreen. We checked into our "Days Inn and suite" where we had a suite!! It has 2 tv's ; one in living room; one in bedroom! We looked around in Del Rio Sun am; decided not to cross into Mexico, but I got one T shirt made in Mexico at Ross's store, which is just like a winners.
Weather is overcast today; very moist; I've had 2 baths so guess I'm ready for the next 7 days of shower only.
Hope you are all well!!Esp the Fryer clan!!
much ooxxx to all Ira-Jane/Rick
Oh yeah, there was a "gun and knife show "on this past weekend here, so we went to that sun am; lots of churches here ; so not many there in the AM! But the restauransts , of which there are a ton, were definitely full by 12:30!
Off to Fort Stockton now; about 190 mi from here.
