It was another pedal to the metal day, and we made good time to Boise, Idaho even with some highway shoulder and repavement work thrown in the mix. To be honest, I don’t care that much for the general desert area of this part of Idaho, but there are some arresting views from time to time. Something for which to pause, admire for the moment, and then move on. And that is what we did.
This afternoon, we arrived and set up Uncle Joe at Hi Valley RV Park near Eagle, Idaho, northwest of Boise. I called sister Mary using OnStar, and soon afterwards Mary, then her husband Jim and son Gavin arrived to greet us and have a look see at Uncle Joe. We showed off the rig, and even had the awning pulled out.

Hi Valley RV Park After catching up and visiting, we set out for supper at a place Jim heard about called Cool Hand Luke’s. I wondered aloud if their specialty might be hard boiled eggs?
We followed
them to the restaurant in The Beast as an accommodation to Shaddy. We’ve learned that Shad don’t like to be cooped up in Uncle Joe by himself. He will sit up on the eating table and howl, disturbing the neighbors. So, we take him with us and find a shady spot in which to park The Beast. As long as he can see out, he is willing to sit and protect The Beast, without making any noise. I’ll check on him from time to time to make sure he is ok.
We had a mighty fine meal with Mary, Jim and Gavin; it was fun to hear about what was going on with them. Gavin is in high school now and has grown into the handsome young man. Mary and Jim both have jobs in a difficult economy where a lot of folk have been laid off and are competing for available opportunities.
Life goes on and work must be done. We enjoyed our brief reunion, but tomorrow is another work and school day for the Boise trio. So, in the morning, we are off on another leg of our trip. Our plans have changed. Instead of heading
into Oregon, we will travel north in Idaho into the mountains.
Stay tuned; more to come.
