A week in Colorado (Aspen & Vail) gave us plenty of time to enjoy some fresh powder and catch up with old friends & make new ones! There was a big storm that came through while in Vail which was exciting... so much snow!! Thanks to Eli & Marcus for having us to stay...we had a super time!
From Colorado we had the super long drive down to the Gran Canyon, where we found a bargin hotel after a whole lot of nothing (desert & indian reserves). Next day we spent a good part of it looking around the Gran Canyon and seeing it all from different look out spots. (Believe us we didnt even cover half of them - there is pretty much a stop every 2 mins!)
In the afternoon we drove all the way through Arizona, towards the mexican border, in search of a cheap hotel. Ended up in some pretty dodgy parts so we quickly moved on. Finally we came across this delightful little ranch style hotel in the middle of nowhere!
Next it was on to San Diego & Mexico for several nights. In San Diego, we enjoyed walking around old town and
we did a day trip to Tijuana, Mexico and that was a favorite part of the trip for all of us. We brought sombreros, ate tacos & drank 99c coronas all while getting serenated by some of the locals. Was a treat! Away from the main strip, (where we didnt venture) you could see the real mexico and all its poverty. It was pretty sad seeing all these little children begging for money.
From there we headed up the Pacific Coast Highway, checking out the many famous beaches and seaside towns. Laguna Beach, Orange County, Sunset beach were among the many.
Spent a wonderful day riding all the rollercoasters and checking out the parade & fireworks at Disneyland and California Park. We enjoyed, among other things, chocolate coated toffee apples and a turkey leg...only in America!
The last few days of our trip we spent in LA. Sat by the pool, went for swims and tackled the mission of packing our bags. Was sad saying goodbye after the amazing adventure..Lety & Bexs went on to Canada (where they will be living for a season) & Ams & Debs headed home to NZ. Thanks for joining us on
our wee adventure. Enjoy the Pics!
Car troublesWe couldnt open our bonnet (we thought it was stuck!), so went a week without no windshield liquid, if you have ever drived in snow you wil know what a mission this is! Finally found a Chev shop so t
