Mark Posting:
The last couple posts have been exhaustive recounts of every little thing that Liz and I have done. I can guarantee another one of those will be available to all you eager readers soon enough. However, tonight I am going to save my fingertips and simply upload a bunch of photos that we've taken over the past several days which have not yet made their way onto the blog.
Side note - I really don't like the word
blog. I enjoy reading several of them and am having a great time writing this one with Liz but find it less than pleasing to read or type the annoying contraction. Yup, I looked it up. Maybe it's common knowledge but I didn't realize b-log is "web log" contracted. If I had been asked to guess I would have said it originated from the fact that most of the information contained in a blog could be summarized as "blah, blah, blah" combined with a "gee, why did I waste my time reading that?" Blah-gee shortened to blahg translated to blog. Like I said, I enjoy reading many blogs and hope you enjoy ours.
On to the photos!
Wind FarmsThis one was somewhere in Kansas but we also saw one in Wyoming...and this picture doesn't do them justice - they are huge and there are bunches of them.
First Sign of SnowEven though we first spotted snow in Kansas on our way to Denver it never amounted to much more than what you see here - despite the 3ft that had fallen only a few days earlier
Welcome to ColoradoConfusion about whether our plan was to stop and take a picture in front of the the welcome sign versus one on the move resulted in this hastily (and poorly) taken camera phone picture
And now MarkWe each chose where to stand and now I'm wondering if Liz made the better choice standing at the head...(please note- Liz would not actually allow me to post the picture)
Prairie Dogs! These farms were everywhere around Denver and I hope to get a better photo with an actual prairie dog in view at some point
Union StationLooks nice from the outside and it's close to the 16th Street Mall but otherwise pretty dull
Majestic DenverApparently more than the mountains tower over the city of Denver
Boulder, COThe scene as we were leaving the Celestial Seasonings facility
Stanley HotelNot as haunting as in the Shining on a beautiful fall day
Elk CrossingA small herd of elk cross the street in Estes Park briefly delaying our stop at the local brew pub
New Belgium......is located in Fort Collins, Colorado - the maker of Fat Tire and several other wonderful Belgian style beers
