Every August my mother's family gets together at my aunt Laura's lake house in Washington. I usually don't take many photos, but since I'm still in tourist mode from my summer travels I had my camera with me the whole time. MoonriseWhen I finally got to Offut I was rewarded that first evening by a beautiful moonrise. Mom and I slept outside by the lake until it rained at about 3am and we had to go in.

Beaver HavenOffut lake has a beaver family (completely wild) that lives down at the east end of the lake. Mom and I canoed down there a couple times to see the beavers. The green heron is not plastic.
Fleeing BeaverThe first time Mom and I visited it was dark, but the second time it was still light and as we approached a beaver left the den and swam off through the lily pads.
Curious BeaverThe beaver didn't stay away for long, or else sent another one to come look us over. He/She swam up to us and studied us for a few seconds from a couple yards away before swimming away through the lil
