So, tonight was fun. The first CS event that I went to since I've been here. I showed up at this Aussie/Kiwi bar and the Stanley Cup game was on so I watched that awkwardly at the bar, drinking by myself and talking to older men who were reading playboy...yep, they were reading playboy. The stack of playBOYS were right next to where I sat down and that stack was frequented way too often by bar veterans. Anyway, i kept my eyes on the hockey game because chicks are for fags. <totally a joke (i dont know what i'm allowed or [View Full Entry]

Warning: Reading this probably won't be fun. That being said, enjoy. (also, my blog is "public" so if you're reading this and you don't know me, then it's probably even less funny and not worth your time.) I wrote a little every day that I've been here and I'm just now posting it so some of you that actually are checking this probably have already heard the stories. June 1: When I got off the plane at SEA-TAC, I figured that I'd need beer, brains, and a little luck to get me to my brother's house. And I was right, I [View Full Entry]

We went to a Mariners game! It was great. Joe gave us some tix thanks to his Dad's company. Best tickets ever. Free parking across the street, walk over in a sheltered walkway above the street. Awesome stuff. I love those tickets!! Thanks Tony. We walked around the stadium and found all the great stuff. I was on a mission for something specific. Robyn found the sweet spot and now she needs a root canal. no really. literally, she does. I found "The Man" sauce which I remembered from being here 2 years ago. Hottest sauce ever. Seattles Green Tortoise hostel was in a great location right next to the Farmers Market where the locals sell all their fresh fish, fruit, vegtables and flowers. The city is unusual in that it is full of high rise buildings, and yet it is surrounded by snow capped mountains. I didn't do too much research before I arrived as I was only going to be there for half a day. Everyone I spoke to told me it was going to be cold in Seattle, however the weather couldn't be more perfect if it tried. The sun was out and there was [View Full Entry]

Seattle to Mt Baker
Seattle to Mt Baker
This ride covered about 326 miles and lots of smiles!
James & I went for a ride to Mt. Baker in Northern Washington today and it was a beautiful day for it. The temp was around 63 degrees and we only hit a little rain on the way home. Our route from Seattle was north on HWY 5 until we got to Bingham where we transitioned to HWY 20 out to Sedro Woolly where we merged onto HWY 9 taking us north to HWY 542 which took us the rest of the way to Mt Baker. HWY 9 & 542 were great rides with some nice twisties to keep us happy. [View Full Entry]

View from our cruise in the harbor
I started this blog sitting in Seatac Airport and am now finishing at home, so it's a bit delayed but my thoughts none the less. As I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to get a different view of Seattle this time around, just for perspective's sake, and I think I have accomplished my goal. Since Liz and I both love the water, we decided to do the Argosy Cruise of the Locks which included the harbor, a view of the various neighborhoods from the water and passing through the locks, which move the boat from the salt water of [View Full Entry]

Saying goodbye to Tota, the angel of the Casa Maria Tango.
After spending nearly 4 months in Argentina, I'm back in Seattle. It's good to be home, but it was hard to leave. I made some really good friends during my stay, learned a ton of Spanish and took my tango to a new level. Here are a few pictures of my last few days in Bs.As. and of my first few days at home. Welcome to Seattle! I chose the title for this entry because I have been to Seattle before, but this time I get to look at it with a whole new set of eyes. When I visited five years ago, it was a family vacation and we stayed with my sister in West Seattle, which is a more suburban section of Seattle. This time I am on a "girls getaway" with my cousin Liz and we are staying at the Westin which is right downtown, a mile or less from basically all of the major sites. This time I am also looking [View Full Entry]

at 6am in the morning before we set off on the drive to Seattle.
Early start - we had the car packed and were off by 6am for the drive to Seattle, arriving an hour before we needed to drop off the hire car, around 9.30am. With such formalities over we walked down to the waterfront for breakfast and from there on to the Pike Street Markets which were a sight for sore eyes!! Many stallholders selling everything you could wish for includingf fruit, veggies, seafood, meat, jams, nuts & flowers - great atmosphere and hard not to load ourselves up with whatever our heart desired! From there it was a walk to the Sky [View Full Entry]

One last blog. I've been procrastinating on writing this one...as it makes me sad to think this adventure is over. I feel the pressure to write something to beautifully summarize my entire experience. However, after a month of thinking and trying, I haven't been able to yet, so I will just write this: I arrived home in Seattle on Monday, May 5. (Oh, and by the way, I had zero hassle in Amsterdam with my bags - no tears were necessary. United Airlines allows 52 kilos and I was up to 54 by then. I was all prepared to ship my [View Full Entry]
