Mount St. Helens and environs Lots to talk about here with many many photos, but I haven't got the time to update this section. To the point, we rode horseback around the mudflow and got a herlicopter view of the caldera of mount st. helens. We also hiked up to the mount ranier glaciers. Much more to come when I get organized. [View Full Entry]

Yes indeed we entered into the cascade mountain range which contains a whole bunch of active volcanoes including Mt St Helen’s which erupted only 26 years ago and caused rather a mess. Apparently in summer you don’t need any torches to walk through the caves. There are so many people in the caves they light the way for you! So me and my sis with our [View Full Entry]

The FJ on the beach. Finally a little bit of offroading!!!
We woke up to a beautiful day in Astoria, Oregon. Since we were up fairly early, we decided to go to the beach and enjoy the morning watching the ocean. After breakfast we drove for a couple miles on the beach and then played around with the car in some loose sand, it was quite fun! We were then off to the state of Washington, to Mt St Helen's, an [View Full Entry]

6am, yes they have that in America too. We had to get up super early to pick up our rental car and head out to Mt St Helens. The car in question was the stunningly mediocre Dodge Neon. Essentially it astounded us by not being totally useless, although when you put your foot down all that happened was that the engine sounded as if it were about to explode. The trip to St Helens is pretty straight forward, take I-5 north turn right and when the road finishes your pretty much there, that’s the kind of directions I like. Cesco took [View Full Entry]

A man of good will with a little effort and belief in his own powers can enjoy a deep, tranquil, rich life---provided he goes his own way……. To live one’s own life is still the best way of life, always was, and always will be. Henry Miller LINKS Name TRAVEL TIPS Saturday, June 11, 2005 It has been raining on and off all night. The Visitors Center at Mt. St. Helen’s is just a few miles from the campground. Unfortunately we were up too early and the center was closed. So undaunted by the bad weather, we continued up the [View Full Entry]
