Rene found this "Crescent" wrench and thought it would be a cool thing to bring with us. I guess his load wasn't heavy enough, I only wish to be as strong lol....
(For you guys who are not familiar with Washington State geography, Mt Vernon(city) is approximately 20 miles south of Bellingham.) Surprisingly, after almost 100 miles of riding and 10+ hrs of saddle time the day before, Rene and I woke up today with nothing more than sore butts, luckily! Our legs felt fresh and strong for what laid ahead, another 80 or so miles to Vancouver B.C. After Starbucks and a hearty breakfast at Denny’s, we left Mt. Vernon and headed north, to Bellingham. The roads to Bellingham were not easy, with our sore glutes, the last thing we needed [View Full Entry]

Enjoying the view
Enjoying the view
This is the view from as high as you can go without venturing onto the glaciers.
Heliotrope Glissading This is my first blog- Over the weekend my dad (Mike) and I headed out to Heliotrope Ridge. The hike is Located next to Mt. Baker, home to the World Record Snowfall and some pretty frickin sweet skiing. But the weekend instead included some flippin' sweet backpackin (I promise no more references to Mr Dynamite). The hike itself is relatively short- 3 miles, 1600 vert feet, with some fun (according to me) river crossings. This trip was chalk full of controversy, plot points, and bloggable tidbits. Unfortunately, I'm an introvert, and a private [View Full Entry]

Last week, I decided to make a trip to USA during the weekends because my visa waiver record was expiring soon and I needed to return it to the Canadian Immigration. Since I would be spending more than 2 hours to travel all the way to the border, it would be a waste if I just went there to return the visa waiver record and did nothing else. Hence, I decided to visit Lynden, a small town north of Bellingham. (I could settle my visa waiver stuffs on my way back to Vancouver after the trip.) I wanted to visit Lynden [View Full Entry]

Vinny, Tony, and I are taking a trip to Europe beginning 10/04/05. We fly into Amsterdam Friday morning 10/07 and plan to stay there for the weekend. After that we will be headed to Germany, Italy, Greece (hopefully), Spain, France and then back to Amsterdam to fly back. That is the rough plan. Actually that is the only plan. We will see. Wish us luck. Oh yeah, and Tony has a mustache. Wait for pictures... [View Full Entry]

Look at me - I am the shit!
Here we are the end of week three and still in Bellingham. The good news is that the camera will be arriving tomorrow and we will be getting the hell out of dodge. It has been nice in Bellingham but we are ready to move on. We spent the first 5 nights in a great campground at the Larabee State Park. It was right by the beach, had rv hook ups and showers. Yep, we showered. 2 showers in 2 weeks. Not too bad :) Since the campground was pre-reserved for the weekend we had to leave and thats how we [View Full Entry]

Well, it is the end of week 2 and everything is still great except for one thing. Bret's camera broke. Yep, broke. There is a dial on the back that is the main control of most of its functions and it has broke. How and why we don't know. The dial stopped working while we were in Glacier, but he was still able to use it until the hike in the North Cascades. We were coming back from a hike and he wanted to photograph sunset. I had him take a record shot of the two of us and B-dawg with [View Full Entry]

Our instructions were to get to the dock early and get in line with our vehicle. The RV will be in the lower level of the ferryboat. Once the vehicle is parked there, we will not be permitted to return to it, except for three designated times a day, as announced. It has something to do with insurance and /or dog walking!?? Maybe you can figure it out? Bellingham is a neat l [View Full Entry]

We made a side trip to Mt. Baker in the Snoqualmie National Forest. We stopped at a National Park/Forest Service visitor’s center. Both of these entities work cooperatively here, which is unusual. They were very helpful routes and hikes and also informed us of a lovely waterfall. We drove the Mt. Baker Scenic Highway for about 50 [View Full Entry]
