We are here in Anacortes, Washington sitting in the "Seefahrt". The Seefahrt is our newly purchased Nor'Sea 27, a sailboat. We are not sure of the names origin and were originally going to change it but the name has really grown on us. We picked the boat up in Santa Cruz and hauled her up here to Anacortes. We stopped to see lots of friends and family along the way.
When I first saw "The Fahrt" out of the water I thought, "There is NO WAY we are hauling that ourselves. NO WAY!!!" It seemed massive. Our F250 crew cab diesel truck looked like a tonka toy next to it. But, we did it. Or I should say Mark did it. He was just like a regular trucker pulling his load! Then we had the challenge of setting up the mast and launching her into the water. On our 17' Montgomery we were able to do this ourselves but things are different now...
We had to pay a crane operator to lift the mast and a Rigger to sort out all the lines. The first try ended abruptly with a piece broken off the spreader that

had to be taken to a welding shop to get fixed. The second set up was successful!!! The launch was smooth and really exciting to watch. They pick the boat up with this huge cradle and just gently set her in the water.
So far so good. We have been hanging out in Cap Sante Marina for the last few days and getting the boat ready to sail. John and Gerri Gunn have been a great resource and fun to hang out with. We did go out for a short sail yesterday. Maneuvering from the dock, in the wind, surrounded by expensive boats was very interesting. But, again, Mark pulled it off. However, returning was not so smooth. My job is to jump off the boat as we near the dock and keep this 10, 000 pound boat from crash landing. Well, I hesitated and did not jump!!! So, we had a soft landing into the dock that just took a small piece out of the very forgiving wooden dock.
We will most likely be setting sail tomorrow and plan to spend the next few weeks sailing around the Gulf Islands, Vancouver and the SanJuan islands.
We will try to update our site regularly and add pictures. We also really enjoy hearing from all of you so please continue to email us and let us know how you are doing and what is going on.
