Thursday morning, time to let Rose and Lily visit their new school. Jasmine got on the bus at her regular time, but the other 2/3 of our new crew were scheduled to be there at 9:00 AM. So I did the normal weekday morning here. Flip the overhead light on, bang the walls “time to rise and shine” sort of stuff. Shortly after the girls got up I let them know, ( thank you Google translate) that today was the day they would get to see and go to their new school. I had thought about telling them the night before but thought maybe it would make them a bit excited, based on their reactions when I told them they were going to school I think we made the right choice. You wouldn't believe how their eyes lit up!

Everyone's ready.. load up and head to school. Jenny had called Wednesday and talked to Amy, the principal of AES so they were waiting for us to show up. The plan was to bring Rose and Lily to AES and let them tour the school, meet their homeroom teachers and just get a chance to see everything at their new school. Jasmine came out of class to give the tour, which I think was a really great idea. You could tell Rose and Lily were a bit nervous about being there but when Jasmine showed up they chilled out quite a bit.

The tour went great, other then Rose doing her shy thing when Jasmine tried to introduce her to her class, not like I wasn't expecting her shy side to kick in. After the girls came back to the office we asked them if they wanted to stay for the rest of the school day. Both girls said yes and seemed to be excited about it so off they went to their classes. I have to say, wasn't really ready to let them go yet but they seemed to be OK with it so off they went.

Friday morning all 3 girls got the normal school day wake up, aka turn the over-head light on and dad going “time to get up, get ready for school” routine. Jasmine and Lily hit the floor running but Rose was the sleepy-head. However once she realized she was headed back to school she got so excited she didn't finish her breakfast. That's no a small thing because Rose loves to eat but she left half of her breakfast behind.

Friday afternoon, time for the bus, I can't tell you how big their smiles were when the came running up to show Nai Nai (grandma) ,Ye Ye (grandpa) and I their Friday folders. Do they like school, did they miss going to school? I think we can say YES! Wish I had been that enthusiastic about school when I was a kid.

I have to put a plug in for AES. Everyone there was so excited to have our girls even knowing they didn't speak English. I can't tell you how much it meant knowing that everyone was so looking forward to the girls coming to school. Trust me the teachers and everyone else at AES made the girls feel so welcome it just made your heart warm knowing the girls would be in such good hands. I can't say enough good things about everyone there. Thanks Ya'll!!

So it looks like things are settling in, going back to work Monday but looks like the girls will be fine so guess Dad won't be missed. Sigh......but it's a good sigh knowing they are adjusting to their new life and settling in with our family.
