A school bus
A school bus
Our first travel in an American school bus.
We landed at Montreal in the evening after six hours and a half of flight from London. Everybody was exhausted but really excited to discover a new country. Unfortunately we hadn't arrived yet! A school bus drove us to Newport which was about two hours from Montreal. We had to stop at the customs office where we filled up a sheet. We had our fingerprints taken and they also took a photo of us. All the Americans were expecting us at their school. As soon as we arrived at our new home we went to bed. In France it was six [View Full Entry]

Backyard view
Backyard view
We are so lucky to have views like this from our backyards. (Taken from a friend's porch)
So often we consider travel exploration to be something you need to travel long distances to do. How about exploring your own backyard in a new way. The community I live in has been fondly dubbed the Northeast Kingdom or "The Kingdom" for short. I came to appreciate it's lake and mountains only after I moved away and returned here to live. I'd like to use my enegy to explore it further and share my exploration with you and other potential visitors. [View Full Entry]

sunset wheelie
sunset wheelie
that's not my dad pulling a wheelie, but rather my buddy greg.
I flipped the newly installed kickstand down and let the bike stand on its own. The childseat over the rear wheel still carried the aroma of freshly extruded plastic, and I ran my fingers across the almost rigid surface, remembering when the plastic walls used to tower over me as I rode behind my mother. Or was it my father? How many of my memories are shaped by countless viewings of the family photo album? Turn the page, and there my father stands astride his Canadian touring bicycle in front of the Pittsford parsonage on the hillside, a red plastic child's [View Full Entry]

Warren Falls
Warren Falls
Vermant may be a "land-locked" state, but there is an abundance of places where people were able to splash in the creeks a waterfalls as well as Lake Champlaine.
Ain’t called a “Green Mountain State” for nothing. My original intension was to visit this area across that BIG lake. I tried to get a spot reserved at the campgrounds in Crown Point where we stayed a few years ago. I called that number and spoke to the owner, only to find out that he retired from the business. He sold the place a year before and the new owner had his own ambitions… (Probably was planning to make the place a 5-star resort) Anyway, “Jack” gave me the name and number of a campground just over the Crown Point Bridge [View Full Entry]

Shelborne again

We drove around late last night until we ended up at some state park in Vermont. It was extremely dark in this area of Vermont and the view of the stars was amazing. We walked around the state park for a while in the pure darkness and then caught some shut eye. When we woke up in the morning, we exited the park to find some breakfast. We ended up eating eggs at Suzy’s place in downtown Brandon, Vermont. Cool place and good breakfast. Spent the rest of the day at Lake Catherine State park. We rented a canoe for the [View Full Entry]
