Cathedral Rock
We made it up this quite a ways before we had to head back down. Geesh. that's a long way up there! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! So, I'm sitting in the Cameo yesterday afternoon after hiking on the Templeton trail in Sedona, and Bob comes in and says, he says to me "what would you think if we pulled up stakes and headed out tomorrow?" Between the two of us, we have counted about 40 No-See-Em bites between the two of us. We think we must have parked right next to a hoard of them at just the right time of year. They were MERCILESS and brutal. I just looked them up and the bites will be affecting us for TWO WEEKS! Bob is not a happy boy, and neither am I. We have no idea how many Allie and Lu have - they apparently care not what species you are. We are really hoping that we didn't bring any with us. At any rate, we put a lot of miles between us and those blood thirsty little beggars and headed north. We left at 8:00 and arrived in Provo at about 7:00. We are staying at Utah Lake State Park and it is really great here! I'm sitting here in a beautiful park listening to the frogs.... beautiful reminders of home that we haven't heard
The river
We were having lunch here before heading the rest of the way back. for a LONG time. Lucy is in heaven out there exploring the area. We just can't keep her in any more. She always stays close and usually we can get her in before we go to bed, but she was couped up in the truck all day so I'm thinking it might be kind of tough to get her in tonight. I'm sure she'll be just fine. Anyway this area is really beautiful and I certainly wouldn't mind coming back to explore it at length. I'm going to get some pictures of the scenery from here in the morning before we bolt. We'll be heading up 15 through idaho, hit 84 over to Oregon then up into Washington. We're hoping to hit Spokane by Saturday and be on the property by Sunday. We'll see. Bob handled the drive today really well. We did over 500 miles on a secondary highway. We're hoping that by traveling an interstate that we will be able to make a little better time. Again, we'll see.
So Surpise! We're headed home! We're going to set up on the property get things set up for electric and getting septic put in, then head for the west
We stopped on the trail
Allie found some shade and just plopped while we looked at the scenery from up on top. for much needed time with family and friends! Ok. Now I'm excited!
At any rate, the pictures here are of our last hike in Arizona. We tried getting up to Cathedral Rock but didn't make it. It was pretty much shear rock and straight up. Allie, even though our little trooper would have tried it if we asked her, only made it about half way. We got to a point where it was just impossible for her to go any further so we went back down and took the Templeton trail instead. We had a great hike through the trees along a river and up some serious switchbacks. We had lunch by the river. It was really beautiful. Enjoy the pictures! I'll keep you updated on our travels home!

bites
What a time with all your bites. Brought Don home yesterday so now he just has to do what the Dr. tells him to. Glad that it's all over so now he just has to heal. We go back to the surgeon next Weds. don't know how long he has to have his brace on so we will find more out on Weds. Darlene
