Aspen Tree GladesWell... I guess they could be glades. I skied in them, just not well :)
Hey all! So, after a REALLY comfortable flight here... slept most of it away, I arrived to beautiful Park City. My father, his wife, Stora and their kids, Jake & Laura were here in the cumfy Mountainside Villa. Awesome. I went to bed super early to try and get some extra sleep. Woke up early, had an awesome breakfast, dropped Jake off at his less (lucky him as he landed a hot Aussi board instructor for 7 hours! ha!). Dad and I hit the slopes and it was great. After a few minutes he suggested we head "all the way up"... so, we hopped on the experts only lift and up we went. To get to the highest peak, Jupiter Peak, we had to traverse across the top of the mountain. Blowings winds, deep snow for a little bit, it was quite difficult. Had I discovered later that it is easier to carry one ski in each hand, I would have done that, but didn't know it yet! Then, we dumped ourselves off the side of the mountain in some pretty darn deep powder... at times, mid thy, when I was rolling in it, mid chest. Lost my poles for a
Dad right before the hikeIf you look behind him, you can see the people hiking around to the left. That's wher we went and skied off just past the end of the picture.
second, took all the energy I had to find them again, but I did. Wed made it and it was awesome as it was reallly my first time doing something like that!
Check out the
Park City Trail Map We headed in for a well deserved rest after 3 hours of skiing. Great spinach salad, dad ate a sandwhich... ok, totally not important that information. We went back up and did some groomed runs that were just wonderful. So, we were riding up the life and all of a suddent these little balls of something started to fall from the sky... we couldn't quite give them a name, but dad discovered they kind of looked like those dipping dots (ice cream) you buy in the mall. They were really the size of an eraser on a pencil though! So, we get up only to find out they have "shut down the mountain because of lightning"... we had some hot chocolate and decided to try and ski down. Got there only to find out there was still a lift open and we skied another hour. So fun... There were some amazing Aspen trees that I went into...
(see picture)... Dad told me that they are actually one organizm... they are all connected! Pretty cool.
Spent 2 hours in the hot tub and the heated pool trying to mend my potentially sore legs... The snow was falling in buckets out there. It was awesome. Now, we're veggin' out inside as we are all pooped. Dad's going to cook us dinner (oh no...) soon! To bed early and out on the slopes again ... attempt to get first chair.
