Dallas, Texas
School Depository Fully recovered from our terrible day of traffic stress yesterday, we got right back in it.....but just with the car - not driving a house and car together down the road this time. Cory drove through Fort Worth and right into the center of Dallas. Where do all these billions of people come from and where are they all going...in such a rush? Downtown Dallas is where The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is located (where Pres. John F. Kennedy was assassinated). We took a walking, audio tour through the Texas School Book Depository and saw close up where Lee Harvey Oswald stood when he made those fateful shots. They didn't allow photos so I could only do some on the outside. The tour was very good & informative. The photo of Lulu in the road is her helping out by showing you the spot when the first bullet struck the President (hope it doesn't seem tacky). The rest of the photos are around the grassy knoll. Following this tour, we hopped a JFK Tour Trolley that took us all around the city for over an hour. The one story brick house is the boarding house where Oswald lived, the The Route
Motorcade Route & Grassy Knoll loading dock photo is where Ruby killed Oswald (on the other side of those metal doors), the movie theater where they found and arrested Oswald. On the trolley was a guy who looked a lot like Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory.....what do you think? The tour was excellent - the guide was super. He even made sound affects during the tour. Heading off to another Spagetti Warehouse Restaurant (once was good, twice is better), we came across the Dallas Holocaust Museum and went through it. It was informative and okay. We have been through the one in Washinton D.C. which is better by far.
All the stress from yesterday and then the constant doings of today must have lowered my immune system as now I am coping with a cold. Wouldn't you just know it....first the horrendous ant bite problem with my foot, now a rotten cold. Cory will really have to feel sorry for me now - a lot. I have loaded myself up with my crash cart supply of medicines so it's "do or die".......if you read a future blog, you will know I have pulled through. Actually, I need to rally around fast because Lulu, the Guide
The knoll & the exact spot when we leave here tomorrow, we are heading to Branson, Missouri. There, hopefully, we are going to meet up with our Tropical Palms (Florida) friends, Sam & Sandy. They have been traveling across the USA in their RV since the beginning of July. They made it to the places we had hoped to go so we will be glad to hear what we missed from them. We can tell them all about Red Bay! It will be wonderful to be with them again. Life is so good......even with a cold and bad left foot.
