Departed Houston on Sat. June 27th. with two dogs and one wife. Traveling north by west to destinations unknown. Well…… not really….. we had the entire trip planned but it sounds more adventurous. Arrived at Cedar Hill Stat Park (just outside Fort Worth) at about 6 pm. 254 miles. 104 degrees. The temp. in the travel trailer was the same. It took several hours for it to cool down, but we slept well.

Sun. AM we were off to Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Arrived at 7pm. 464 miles. I learned a lesson. 300 miles in one day is enough for me when pulling a 5,000 pound trailer. Never again. A cool 84 degrees. Wildlife spotted : Rattler, bobcat, turkey, deer, rabbit. Again, a good nights sleep but worn out from a hot day followed by a long day.

Stopped at Mc Donald’ just south of Amarillo. Saw two men in brown shirts and jeans. The shirts had a B&B logo. They were refilling their drinks before heading out to work. I noticed they both preferred the same flavor. As I left the building I spotted a septic tank truck with the B&B logo. Their slogan: “The Best In The Business, Because We Want To Be”. Boy, like wanting to be the best at something makes it so. Maybe they were “wannabees”. Really, there were both just regular guys. Their soft drink of choice was Dr. Pepper. It’s off to Albuquerque and Mesa Verde.
