Texas (I love Texas!)
It was a very long drive to Texas and we could feel the weather getting a little warmer. There isn’t much to look at on the road, only here and there we would pass a forgotten little town where the houses are slowly withering away, rusty cars stand abandoned and grass is slowly consuming the remains..a very sad sight and one can’t help but wonder what story each house could tell.
We packed our breakfast and lunch snacks and could eat on the road without stopping for too long. We found a smart Texan Service welcome centre where we could sit and enjoy our lunch. The “Tornado Shelter” and “Rattlesnake” signs were a little worrying but it all added to the experience, and no…we didn’t come either…
We could see we were getting closer to the City, because we were stuck in a long line of traffic. Cars slowly crawling forward, exhaust fumes being pumped into the air and causing the horizon to look a little hazy. These roads are so confusing and busy, so a wrong turn later we made it to our Hotel. We decided to take it easy and stayed in. Had our dinner
at the hotel’s social hour, where they provide complimentary meals…and then it was suitcase repacking time!
The next day..
U.D, Jason & Marc went to do some work things…had to meet up with the U.S.A agent and oversee an installation so us girls had the morning free to visit Wal-Mart and some other shops. If you see the size of this shop you will understand that a person can easily spend a couple of hours in there looking for things and finding new goodies we don’t have at home.. After Wal-Mart we had a Starbucks coffee to recharge us again and then we went to Ross’s clothing.. It was so nice to look at new things but I didn’t find much. We did however find more Witnesses, the security man and a sales lady in the shop! Seems like our ‘NO BLOOD” tags are good advertising and we are immediately identified by our ‘brothers and sisters’ and a heart-warming lively conversation always follows..
The Boys picked us up and we went to downtown Dallas, drove around a bit and looked at all the tall buildings, we wondered where the shops were or a market of some kind, so Jenni
asked a lady officer but we were informed there isn’t really anything like we had in mind.. So we walked around a bit more and decided to have lunch at Jimmy John’s, what a lekka vibey place! The sarmies were good and we were entertained by all the little funny signs all over the shop walls.
Destination shopping mall…
We all went our separate ways in the mall so that we could use every minute needed to go through all the shops, it’s a little expensive but at least managed to find a bargain or two. I love buying prezzies and normally most of my shopping is exactly that.. After sweeping the mall we went back to the hotel for “social hour” and then we hit another mall.. Home Jeeves… and a last repacking and throwing out session over it was doedoes time..
