Went to UTD by DART bus. The bus driver was bit scared whether I will buy a ticket! When I got into the bus, he said 'how are you...enjoy your trip'. It is written in the DART website that the driver will not have change and therefore IF we want to buy ticket we need to give exact change. Why unnecessarily troubling the driver and give him the additional work of issuing a ticket! Bus no 883 towards railway station had mostly students and couple of old people. It appears everyone carries some sort of monthly pass so no one buys/checks for tickets. While waiting for the return trip, I saw the bus coming in the opp direction practically empty and the driver started eating his lunch. It appears drivers take 5-10 mins break in each ... read more

New Tom Thumb

Almost same routine in the new place. Went with Rajesh one trip to the apt to bring toaster, grill etc. Went with Viswam to Wells Forgo bank and opened sepaate account for Viswam. Eve went to the business center for checking mail (V takes the laptop to the lab). Also to beard trim at Tom Thumb. Setting up

Did not go to Tom Thumb. At 745 Bryant dropped us at the new place (http://www.thepradera.com/). V setup the tv etc and had to wait till 11 for the cable people to come and give the connection. I walked back to UTD in 30 mins. In the evening shifted everything in Bryant / Madhu's car. M left after dinner. I walked to Tom Thumb (another one which is .5 miles away) in 10 mins and bought fruits.... read more

Grad. gown

At 9 am Rajesh and family came and took Viswam to the Activity Center. N and I walked and went by 945. The ceremonies started at 10 and Madhu came at 1040 just before Viswam received his degree. After ceremony took photographs, met families of Jacob Kunnapally, who is Viswam's roommate, and Dhananjay, course mate. Also met Bryant's family who had come to the apt. to take him out for lunch and then attend his graduation which was at 4pm. After lunch at our place Rajesh took both of us to his house. Played TT and many games with the children. Madhu brought Viswam around 845 and we played 56 till midnight. (M/V/W vs me/N/Rajesh). N and I came with M to her apt for the night stay.... read more

Usual walk in the morning. Left at 6.45, back by 8.30. Got a huge box of chocolate chip cookies today for $5. R found a machine at Tom Thumb where we can do self -check of BP for free. So, checked our BP there. R's was marginally high as usual, and mine low as usual. (You need to pay to check your weight but checking BP is free....wondering why...if you check your weight you will not buy and if you check your BP you will buy!- R) Made chicken biriyani and chicken fry today. Bryant had taken the day off today. So, was able to offer him lunch today. R had bread omelette and salad. Viswam's Honors Graduation ceremony went off well... 4-5pm. Madhu also had come. Indian Restaurant

Morning- usual walk to Tom Thumb and back and phone calls from India. At 11am V and R left for TT. R came back early since TT table had been removed to make space for group photos. V went to thr gym and was back only by 1.15pm. Sridhar came after lunch. Went in his rented car around the campus. He told us that only 4-5 buildings were there when he studied in UTD. Now, it had expanded ten fold. He showed us the room in Green Hall, where he worked as a TA. Looked around McDermott Library which h said had not changed much. Sridhar and Madhu came around 8pm. Dinner. Daily Routine 3/ 4 am to 7 am work 7 am to 9 am walk with N to Tom Thumb to get provisions for the day. 9 am to 11 am Phone calls home/TV. 11 am to 12 TT with Viswam (He will get up around 10 am and come back from Gym by 1pm) Lunch while watching Modern Family. Viswam's Apt

Morning went for our usual walk to Tom Thumb. Back at 9am. Amma called. Washed clothes and cooked. Tried prawn pulav and tilapia fish fry. Came out well. In the evening R and V played table tennis while i watched a movie 'Pelican Brief', starring Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington at home. M came for dinner at 8.30 and took leftovers for lunch the next day. Found strange: 1. There is a anti-bark collar for dogs. It will give a shock to the dog if it barks. So the owners put this on for thier dogs when they are away. Else the neighbors will complain to the police. 2. There is a pet entry door to the house which will automatically open for their dog/cat when it comes in and not let in any other pet/intruder. ... read more

R went alone for morning walk to Tom Thumb. Madhu came home for lunch she had her day off. V had his last exam 2 to 5 pm and then his Sr Design meeting. The 3 of us left for Galleria Mall after lunch at 2pm. It was raining. R walked around while Madhu and myself went to Macy's. Madhu got me two sets of dresses and a T-shirt for R. M dropped us at home by 5pm. Saw the movie 'The Others' (good...scary movie) and a few episodes of Modern Family before going to bed.... read more

Veeran

Had idly, masala vadai, chutney and payasam for breakfast at P. mami's place. R walked upto the Pillayar temple and came back. Veeran dropped us at Viswam's room on his way to office at 9am. Made chicken fry and pulav for lunch. Watched 'Primal Fear' starring Richard Gere after lunch. V was studying for his exams. Evening walked around the campus for more than an hour.
