Texas had been a solar furnace since early May. Each week getting progressively hotter and drier until by the end of august all the grass had burned brown and even the prickly pear cactus was a shriveled up pile of green spikes.

Patty and I were desperate to get to somewhere ,anywhere cooler, even if for just a few days. Patty's Dear friend's daughter was to be wed in Santa Fe NM and we were invited.

It's six hundred and sixty six miles from where we live in Central Texas to Santa Fe NM. At our stage of live the prospect of driving straight through was not an option. Lubbock Tx is about half way so overnight at the Generic suites motel and on in the morning to New Mexico.

About 50 miles south of Santa Fe the road starts climbing as the Sangre de Christo Mountains appear in the distance. Finally some green vegetation begins show on the road side and hope is born in our hearts.

I had never been to Santa Fe and when we checked in to our hotel I grabbed my camera and walked to the plaza. Hope you enjoy the
