Well, we are on the train again we are headed from Fort Worth to Los Angeles at this time. Yesterday was a very laid back day. Jennifer and I went to the gun range and shot through a lot of ammo and targets. The range was out of 9mm but had plenty of .38 and .22; I was amazed at how poorly I shot a .22 versus a 9mm. After that, we stopped at Waffle House where I remembered why I never eat at there. We then moved along to a couple of sporting good stores and a couple of other stores before we headed back to the house. On our way back to the house we found a fabulous chocolate place where we picked up a bunch of handmade chocolates and macaroons for snacking on. ... read more

Geo: 32.3504, -97.3876This Hampton in Lubbock seemed fairly new or well-kept and service was fine. The best feature was an exhaust fan in the bathroom which I haven't seen a lot of in a while. They were doing some construction on the building. During check-in when I asked the desk clerk about what noise level to expect from the work, he assured me that they were working on the roof, and we shouldn't hear anything in our ground floor room. Also, the work was not scheduled to start until 8:30 a.m. The next morning, it turned out that he was right about the time, but not about the noise. About 8:30, we started hearing a fairly constant beep, beep, beep that sounded like a truck back-up warning signal. Right outside our room window was a crane ... read more

Chris and Arya were up very early. She had trouble sleeping- I found them both asleep on the couch later in the morning. Someone, I think Uncle David, remembered it was National Donut Day and found us some good Old Fashioneds. After that, it was time to get ready for the wedding! Incredibly hot day outside for the ceremony. The reception was inside. Both were simple and great. So glad we were able to make it. =D Great food, of course. Later that afternoon I got cabin fever, and went out shopping for souvenirs. I found Arya a cowgirl hat! The next morning we got up pretty early, headed back to Dallas, and flew home. Short but sweet trip.... read more

We woke up the next morning and went out to breakfast with everyone. Uncle David had joined the fun by then (he got in REALLY late the night before). Had some really good biscuits and gravy at a little diner in town. =) Then we decided we couldn't have gone all the way to Texas and not get BBQ. Last year when we visited Texas, there was an ice storm. Driving long distance was pretty impossible. This time, we needed BBQ. We spent a couple hours planning and deciding which place to hit up. Finally we decided on a little place way up in Dallas. Off we went to Off The Bone. Guys- it was worth the journey. We were stuffed with some great food. That night we all sat around drinking and chatting it up. ... read more

We decided to do a morning flight, hoping Arya would sleep for most of it. I read every blog and website I could find on how to ensure as smooth a flight as possible with an infant. I pored through airline regulations on luggage, and baby supply carry-ons. We debated, but not too much actually, on whether or not to get Arya her own seat or just hold her. We paid for her own seat because everything we read said that was the only safe option. I mean- you don't hold in children in your car while driving, why would a plane be different? That morning we kept her bundled in PJs, brought lots of toys and snacks, and mostly just prayed. Prayed we could entertain an infant an entire flight, prayed she wouldn't get her ... read more

Cleburne, Texas: As long as I live, I don't think I will have heard of even half of all the towns in Texas. Honestly, when I was planning a trip to Cleburne to attend a rabbit show, I didn't expect much. Perhaps because Cleburne doesn't exactly sound like a happening kind of place. But it was the first rabbit show of the season, so I was anxious to get there. Anyway, I packed a lot of books and magazines and hoped for the best. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with this little town. There was more to it than I thought there would be and I LOVED the hotel I stayed at. While the shopping left a lot to be desired (no boutiques), I did love the fully stocked Tractor Supply (it's the ... read more
