Beaumont Tx
We left New Orleans with our belly full and we were saturated with the fast pace lifestyle of New Orleans. We drove to Beaumont Texas, a small city of 110,000 population and settled in our hotel about 2 miles north of Downtown. Then we went out in search of a restaurant and arrived on Crockett Street which is a popular place to go according to our travel guide booklets . We got out, took a few pictures and started to look around for people. Ok, it felt like the twilight zone. There was no a soul out there, nor any cars driving around. We saw 2 police cars driving around in the 5-10 minutes we were downtown. I had the strangest feeling and it felt eerie.

We decided to leave and find a place where it was packed with locals, so off we went. We ate at the Cafe Del Rio, where the place was hopping.

We concluded that it had been 100 degrees today, noone was outside taking a stroll, they wanted to stay inside where the AC was keeping them cool.

Happy that you having a good time
After reading all your blogs, it's evident that you should not let Joe gas-up again. We arrived from Vegas friday and we had a marvelous time. Wonderful scenery in the Canyon and the strip is sparkling in the evening. If you want a exceptionnal hotel, go to the new one "The Cosmopolitan", if not we stayed at the Vdara Hotel situated behind the Cosmopolitan, and it's a beautiful hotel also. We will continue to follow you on the blog. Have a nice trip and a wonderful time. Michelle et Rino

You generally have to be at Crockett Street after 9pm for any kind of excitement, sadly.
