okay, 7:30am and i got gpa off to the airport. what is left of my liver waved goodbye and told him don't come back...
so saturday we ate some Rudy's barbq, then drank a marg at Antonio's. then it was time to get the sharp gear on and go to Threadgill's for chicken fried steak and the Dukes of Simpleton. good scene, very good band, if you like XTC, which i can take or leave.
then we walked over the bridge (no bats out that late) and met some homies at Lavaca Street bar, then went over to the L.A. folks' fave 4th st bar, Fado. we put away many guiness' and harps and saw several songs by a cool irish rock band called the Farrington's or something like that. cabbed it home plastered again.
sunday was 80% recovery day. how long, o lord, how long? managed to eat a bit of arby's, then went and played a little basketball in the burning hot hot sun to facilitate the hangover recovery process. came back to the house, cooked up some steaks and skewers (see excellent grill pic), watched lebron and the Cavs get it handed to them by the evil
empire and called it.
i know gpa will blog out some more blogiful info but that is my recap. o ya, and after much debate, must clear up one point: Ed and Tammy ARE being named honorary godparents. they must agree to oversee the musical development of this child in the event that laura and i are carted off into slavery by gypsies or meet some other unforseen fate. the rogers-heiners have a big responsibility there but we are confident they are equal to the task...
wish ALL you all could have made it - next time come to Texas instead of Ireland - the signs are easier to read, for one thing...
LOVE! drl
