Beaufort (pronounced Byu-fert) is located at the heart of the Low Country of South Carolina. Just like the typical southern town, Beaufort is filled with Spanish Moss hanging off from any visible brances in any trees, old and new. As we were driving around the town to see annabellum houses across a lake and historical structures, we noticed that strong influence of Marine Corps was evident throughout the town. Parris Island (the Marine Corps Recruitment Depot) is only miles away. Parris Island is one of two locations, apart from MCRD San Diego California, where the recruit Marine [View Full Entry]

I've always heard that Atlanta rush hour traffic is one of the worst in the nation, but not until we were trapped in it, I realized how lucky I am, not to have to commute to work everyday like millions in Atlanta. Jason, Ryan and I were leaving for Savannah, Georgia right after work on Friday, and the traffic out from Atlanta was bad. How did driving through the 'Spaghetti Junction' sound like? Four hours later, we finally arrived in Savannah. Ryan has reserved a hotel in a somewhat sketchy area, and the accomodation is not something I can brag about [View Full Entry]

This is a picture/back log of a trip my family and I took to South Carolina in August 2004. We went to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, South Carolina. It was great, except I got a terrible, terrible sunburn (I had blisters! Ew!). It was so terrible I had to spend a day on a couch in the horizontal direction and could hardly move. By time we got down to Charleston, I could move (it was still painful) but I was so red that when I was in the Market, a little girl actually pointed at me and laughed. I looked like [View Full Entry]

Here we are in Charleston South Carolina. We feel like we’re truly in the south now. It’s amazing the differences we see after traveling only a couple of hundred miles south. Almost like we crossed over some invisible border into another country. The speech is very different (we hear the southern drawl from most of the locals), attitude is different, the temperature & humidity went up 20 degrees and the land is totally different. Our campground is a real slice of the south and located in a swamp area. I know you are probably saying “euuhh… they are staying in a [View Full Entry]

Saturday, April 27, 2002 We (Brian and Michele) woke up bright and early (4:30 AM) to get on the road south to Vacation. Fripp Island, South Carolina was our destination and it was only 11 hours away! We had packed up the truck the night before to help ease the pain of the early morning start. We only stopped a couple times. During the trip it was cool to check out the “South of the Border” bill boards. We arrived at “Parks Place” condo at around 5:00 PM and unpacked the groceries and clothes from the truck. After we put them [View Full Entry]
