On 09-12-09 Cindy (wife) and I left Eastover, SC and headed to Chapin, SC for a little BBQ with members of MTF (Motorcycle Tourer's Forum). We road in Cindy’s Explorer because the Shadow is still getting repaired from the little spill I took on Garners Ferry Road a few weeks back. You would think that with the thousands of Shadows Honda has built over the years that the side engine case would not have to be placed on backorder.
So it felt more like we were on the motorcycle I turned off the air conditioner in the truck and road with all four windows down. Cindy would not let me bring my helmet to wear on the trip up the interstate, ATGATT. At 11:25 a.m. we arrived at Farm Boys BBQ. We had not ever been there to eat and were surprised at what a nice place it was. When we pulled up there was not a bike to be seen. I thought … Great, I got the address or date wrong and Cindy gave me one of those looks. You know the look I am talking about, “Here we go again; I should have checked the MTF Calendar
and not trusted him.
Happily when we pulled around back there were 15 to 20 bikes and people kicking tires. A big smile spread across my face and I knew I was in the right place. We all stood around for a few minutes and then headed indoors for some good southern cooking. Once inside I grabbed a table with Jim Bain, Grizz and his wife Cindy, Jason Jones, my wife Cindy and a man from Georgia that got a ticket in some small town. I am sorry but I am really bad with names, all I could remember was that he was upset about his speeding ticket. Yes I got two plates of food. I had to taste both the mustard based BBQ and the vinegar based. I am not sure which was better. I will have to go back again soon and see if I can make up my mind.
After lunch and desert we all headed back out to the bikes to kick some tires. Grizz took Cindy on a ride on his new 08 red Goldwing. They were gone for quite a while and when they returned Cindy had a big old smile on
Gossip
Hard to believe that this group would gossip! her face. Grizz that had better been from the ride on the bike!!
On the way home we stopped at Carolina Powersports to look at a used ST1300 that they had just traded in. The price was more than I wanted to pay and now that Grizz has corrupted my wife it looks like I need to keep my eyes open for a good used Wing. Hey, I will take one in yellow please. Thanks for the test ride Grizz, Cindy is a little more receptive to this whole NEW bike thing I have been preaching.
Anyone who wants to donate to the “Alec’s new Wing Ding Fund” can contact me off list for my PayPall account information.
