Caribbean Island Hopping

We are trying to plan a Thanksgiving trip to St Thomas this year and would like to get some feedback from people that have been in the area and can give us some input about island hopping while we are there. We would like to see as many and as much of the area in about five days that we can get in. Any suggestions on where to start as far as once we are there getting transportation and accomadations lined up such as what means of transportation from island to island, boat, plain, etc....I am not wealthy so the most economical the better.
