Thanks for looking after us in Toronto!
Toronto was the only big city in America and Canada we visited on our trip. We managed to navigate a spaghetti of highways and road works to the city centre to find our hotel. Bette (Dave’s Aunt ) was there to meet us with a warm welcome and a large basket of goodies including the makings of a fine G&T. It was great to have a shower and sleep in a bed and we had some fine meals too! Thanks to Bette and to Jim and May Strasman for making our stay very enjoyable. Our original idea was to drop the [View Full Entry]

Dear All, Following a weekend as a tourist in Newport, Rhode Island, I drove 30 miles down the road to see Brown and Rhode Island School of Art and Design. The two campuses are within a block of each other and have reciprocal agreements with each other where students from one school can take students at the other school. BROWN Give yourself plenty of time to get to this school. There is no public parking lot. It is everyone for him/herself when it comes to on street parking. Be aware, too, that sometimes information sessions are held somewhere other than the [View Full Entry]

This day was a long day. We were supposed to drive home but I wanted to fit in tours of the Breakers and Rosecliff before we hit the road. The tours did not begin until 9 so we entertained ourselves by taking a leisurely ride gawking over the mansions (or "cottages" as the locals would say) and the views of Ocean Drive. We made it to the Breakers at 9 sharp. Our tour guide was excellent. I think the best part was the Upper Loggia (basically, a porch) with views across the lawn and over the cliff to the ocean. After [View Full Entry]

Well, as I'm writing this we have about 133 days left until our inaugural fllight. We made the big leap last month and bought our first flight on cheaptickets.com via kayak.com. We officially leave on Saturday, July 12 at 8:20 from JFK Airport in New York and arrive in Marrakech, Morroco on Sunday, July 13 at 9:30 a.m. This, as I recall, is our first flight on Royal Air Maroc. This is as far as we got so far with the flight purchases. After toying with the idea of doing a single Round-the-World ticket, we figured it would be a [View Full Entry]

Well, this may be the very first entry in what could potentially be a travel blog for a proposed Round-the-World trip for Cosmina and myself. We are still very much in the planning stages of this crazy idea and have so far only done the following: a)Decided to actually go b)Started saving money (actually, we are maybe a month or two away from reaching our savings goal) Otherwise, it feels like there is so much to do if we’re actually going to make it. We got the idea for this trip while we were on our honeymoon in South America. Our [View Full Entry]

I'm trying to figure this thing out. I've written two blogs here and this is simply an intro letter. I think there is a link to ask to not receive notice so you can opt out if you would like. I'll try to keep it fun and light and add pictures and video and stuff. [View Full Entry]

In 1970, Scott Tasca and I were 18 years old. Neither of us shaved more than once a week. We weren't grungy. We just didn't need to shave more than that. We both wore our hair long and bleached blonde. We wore bell bottom jeans that rode low on our hips and t shirts and necklaces of shells around the neck. We were surfers and freshman at the University of Rhode Island. We roomed together in Bressler Hall. Neither of us wanted to go to college, but we would have been drafted and sent to Viet Nam if we hadn't been [View Full Entry]

So I am off to London on the 17th of December. Whilst staying in a few hostels and enjoying the local pubs, I will be interviewing for a job with the Imaginative Traveller. If offered the position as tour leader I will be off to SEAsia or perhaps Egypt within a few short weeks thereafter. This interview is something I look forward to and only mildly dread. I am surprisingly calm, but certain this will morph into complete panic as I exit the train in Ipswitch and board the bus that will drop me acrross from their office in Suffolk. I [View Full Entry]

Posted by: Onaxthiel: We hung out in Imagisme and Catalysts' apartment until they had both headed off to work. Luckily, this delayed our departure until the Boston traffic pattern had slowed down somewhat. The weather was quite cooperative for a day of seeing Revolutionary War sights. Our route was out towards Lexington and Concord, the two targets of British raids that triggered violent confrontations resulting in the War of Independence. I have to give a hand to the British infantry of the day. They marched 20 miles from Boston harbor, out to Concord, conducted searches of suspect homes, then a return [View Full Entry]
