Dear All, On this last day of the tour, I returned to Pennsylvania on my way home, and toured Bucknell and Susquehanna. BUCKNELL UNIVERSITY Student Body Population--3500 Classroom Performance 93% in top quarter of high school class Mid 50% Test Scores (if required) 1230-1400 % Out of State 77% % Male 50% This beautiful, well maintained campus reminded me of Wake Forest in its architecture, its students and its objectives. I met with Carol Gadd, associate director of Bucknell’s admissions office, prior to the 8:30 am information session, and then joined part of the ca [View Full Entry]

I was particularly excited to see Wesleyan because of its strong academic reputation. Our tour guide described the school as “mellow”, “open”. I would add that it seems to attract an eclectic g [View Full Entry]

where to start... my last entry left off when I was still in Seattle, at the end of May. After leaving Seattle I visited Rhea again in Portland, then travelled south to meet Spud in San Francisco. We met up with my dear friend Sunny who's currently living in Berkeley, and Sunny's friend Mik offered us a room at the place he was staying. With the luxury of a room to ourselves and a key to the back door, we set off to enjoy San Francisco. As usual, Spud wanted to check out the dancing scene and the bridges, so we [View Full Entry]

I totally forgot that I have a vacation last week, and we decided at the last minute that we were going to go to Philadelphia to celebrate Independence Day!! Turned out that traveling by plane, train or bus cost about the same at that time, so I decided what the heck I will just drive there. It's more comfortable, and faster than train or bus, and I get to decide when and where to stop and take a rest. Sure was raining hard on the way there, but there were some gaps of sunshine when I drive past those dark clouds. [View Full Entry]

Dear All, I have logged nearly 600 miles of road time and boy does it feel nice to settle into my hotel tonight (Lancaster Arts Hotel, a national landmark) courtesy of Franklin and Marshall. I regret no pictures will accompany my postings until I return home. Until then, I will try to paint a word picture for you in the form of notes I create for myself as well. For a visual aid to my travels, click on the "blog map" found in the first entry. Dear All, The more schools I visit, the more I am convinced that there are so many schools that could be "great fits" for our students. Impressions of Lehigh, Lafayette and Muhlenburg follow. Lehigh University (www.lehigh.edu) Student Body Population--4800 Classroom Performance 90% of admitted students are in top tenth of high school class Mid 50% Test Scores (if required) SAT 1290-1400 % Out of State 75% % Male 61% Fifty miles south of Philly and 75 miles northeast of New York, this 1600 acre campus is simply spectacular in its beauty. The campus reminds me of Duke in [View Full Entry]

Lafayette College

Today was filled with many wonderful experiences. We started the day with breakfast at the hotel (in NJ) and then departed for Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty (via ferry). The building that once filtered millions of immigrants into the United States is now a museum. Many of the kids enjoyed looking through the roles to see if any of their ancestors came through Ellis Island (many were able to find direct relatives!). The kids seemed to really appreciate the history the island holds. From Ellis Island, we went to Liberty Island, where the Statue of Liberty stands. Lady Liberty [View Full Entry]
