Today we rent a car to go to Scranton, PA, where we had an appointment with the Howard Gardener Elementary School. Renting a car is not that easy when you don't have a major credit card, which none of us had. Since public transport is quite expensive, renting a car was our only possibility to manage to keep the appointment with the headmaster at the school. Finally we could arrange with a rental company and our host to rent a car for that day.
We visited the school and got some nice input on how people are working on different teaching methods and what teachers think about public schools in US. The headmaster was also very interested in our education and the school systems in europe so it was a nice exchange of information and impressions. The students appeared to be very happy in their school and in what they are doing. After we came back in the evening, we used the chance of having an own car and went to Manhattan, NY and cruised around the town to get an impression where we will be the next days.
