Bouquet of Roses
Detail from an exquisite display at the 2005 Philadelphia Flower Show.
The 2005 Philadelphia Flower Show
This year's Central Feature exhibit is titled "America the Beautiful," and showcases great garden ideas from around the country. William Penn had once described Philadelphia as a "green country town". The Pennsylvania Horticultural society founded in 1827 has worked diligently through the years to maintain that important connection of community through horticulture. The Flower Show proceeds go to support the non-profit activities of PHS, included Philadelphia Green, a national model for urban greening projects. This year, the flower show included an exhibit "When Life gives you Lemons...make Lemonade", which raised awareness and funds for pediatric cancer.
A Dutch Treat
A intricate container display which highlights the intergal part plants have in our homelife. Several "rooms" were created to illustrate this role. The detail of each themed room was astounding. The gardeners in this competition must have spent months planning every small detail of the display.
Happiness is..
Floral designer Jamie Rothstein celebrates the joys of children in the garden with her playful 2005 exhibit. Amidst the boldly colored flowers, children run, skip, walk on fences and even play hopscotch.
Stained Glass by FTD
This imaginative recreation of a church ruin was one of my favorite exhibits at the Flower Show.
orchids
My orchid never looked this good! Every year I am so tempted to purchase a new Orchid.
An Flowers Palette
I love the creativity of the Florists, as in this display that uses a pond and flowers to recreate an artists palette.
Alex
It is so difficult to take really good pictures at this show due to many factors. What is not clear in this photo is the huge lemon themed outdoor cafe behind Alex's stand.
