These next three lighthouses we will bypass this trip since we visited them just three months ago and have the pictures to post.

This weekend we are in Salem OR in the Premier Resort RV court so we can catch up on our family here as well as other important things like football, internet access, laundry, shopping etc.!!!

CAPE MEARES LIGHTHOUSE.

Located west of Tillamook this lighthouse stands 217 ft. above the ocean, yet its tower is the shortest on the Oregon coast, just 39 ft. First commissioned in 1890, it is no longer in service. The lighthouse still contains the original Fresnel lens.

YAQUINA HEAD LIGHTHOUSE

Just 3 miles north of Newport, OR, this lighthouse stands 162 ft. above sea level. Its 93-foot-tower is the tallest on the Oregon Coast. First commissioned in 1873, today it serves as an aid to navigation along the entrance to Yaquina Bay. Yaquina Head is an outstanding area to view seabirds nesting, tide pools and other natural exhibits.

YAQUINA BAY LIGHTHOUSE

This beautiful lighthouse is located near the north end of the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport. It has a 56 ft. tower that stands 205 ft. above the ocean.First illuminated in 1894, today its beacon can be seen 21 miles from land, rated one of the strongest lights on the Oregon coast.

I finally got to catch up on your blog. You have see some interesting and beautiful country. A lovely lot of pictures. I have been in Melbourne for the past 10 days staying with Toni but had lunch with Bronwen on her birthday which was the main purpose of going. When do you think you will be home? Although I wouldn't rush with such beautiful country to see. Love Yvonne
