(New Life Ranch)
We have some exciting news; we traded motor homes! We have now have one with a slide in the living area and a second slide in the bedroom! The slide in the bedroom is what we were wanting, as that turns the bed to the side of the room, and allows the whole back wall for closet! We have found, and I have mentioned, that it’s not the amount of clothes we need, it’s the variety of seasons~~I was forever moving the warm clothes out of the totes in the basement of the bus and putting some of the summer clothes down there. Then we’d move to the next location and need the summer clothes back. On this project that change takes place in two days’ time! Now I have all of our clothes in the bedroom at one time~~a very handy concept! And all of our shoes! That’s what we were after, and what we ended up with is a rig three years newer, 50,000 fewer miles (which wasn’t really an issue, because ours could have gone for another 100,000 miles). This one is also three feet longer, which makes a big difference when your
whole house is 38’! The slide in the living room is about a foot deeper than the other, so that gives us quite a bit more floor space. Our new one is the same make and model as the old, which really pleased Bob, because he liked how the old one handled. It’s interesting to see the changes Newmar made in three years~~outlets, for one. They have lots of outlets and phone jacks now, whereas our old one had quite a few extension cords running from the outlet to the place we wanted that thing. As much as we loved the old one, the new one is that much better.
If you’re wondering how the move took place, here’s how you do a driving-home: we drove our old one to the town where this was, about 75 miles from here, on Friday, parked with the two doorways across from each other, put stuff in totes and carried it back and forth, unpacking as we took each one in. It took us about ten hours to clean the new, move the stuff and clean the old. We were back in camp by noon Saturday. Pretty bizarre! In the move, though,
my cordless mouse seems to have made an escape~~it was with my laptop in the old one, and not with my laptop in the new one. Every tote was unpacked, we know nothing was left in the old one, and still no mouse. I think when we find that missing sock from the dryer we’ll also find my mouse….and I’m now the proud owner of a new mouse in my new house!
Sunday afternoon we had a housewarming, and dedicated the bus: to our use, and God’s glory. It was a very special.
It’s very cold (mid 40s, but windy and soooo damp) and cloudy and rainy. Our tour on Friday was to the Sam Walton Museum in Bentonville, AR, which is where Sam bought his first Ben Franklin, which he later turned into Wal-Mart. After that museum, and lunch, we went to a Native American museum. It was an indoor day, which the weather required.
Oh, I nearly forgot to tell you about Tuesday night! After our social get-together Bob and I decided to go to the hilltop behind the camp, and look at the stars (really!). When we got up there we found Mike, who
is head of the amateur astronomy club at John Brown University! He was setting up telescopes to view with the campers; he had a 10” aimed at Jupiter, a 12” aimed at a star cluster, and a 16” aimed at Andromeda, which is the closest galaxy to the Milky Way. We came down and told the others, and then got back up there before all 60 sixth grade campers appeared! It was awesome~~Andromeda has a small galaxy revolving around it, and that was also visible. It was just overwhelming.
One more little note; my job right now is inputting responses off the evaluation cards from the campers in 2009. There is one question that reads “Would you like to return to New Life Ranch?” There is a yes bubble and a no bubble; one camper filled in the yes bubble, and then in the margin he wrote “heck yeah”. That made me laugh!
Looking up the creek. The canoers are campers; right now it's a school group that's here for outdoor education.
The chapel; I'm quite sure you'll be seeing this picture again, as the tree changes color. The waterfall runs all the time.
Count the slides--one, two!! That means we have one in the bedroom! And the one in the living room is deep enough to have a window--and to hold a couch!
My new kitchen! You can see how big the refrigerator is, plus we have a separate freezer in the underneath storage area. It can be used for freezing, or just turned to make it an additional refrigerator space.

I am so glad that you were able to find the 2 slide motorhome and purchase it. It is absolutely beautiful.
What a great experience to be able to see the planets. The joys of RVICing.
Congrats on your new home. Having had boats that you could sleep on I can truly appreciate gaining a couple feet more in length and width as well as having a larger refrig and shower. Happy days and safe traveling to you. I miss your face and voice - love to you and thanks for all you do to make the world a better place.
Hi Bob and Vicki,
Another great blog...how do you do it? Great commentary and great pictures. Thanks for sending both.
About star gazing, sounds like a wonderful night. We have a telescope buried in the basement and one of these projects I will have Fred get it out when we are somewhere where there aren't lights everywhere.
Love, Rosi O
We wish you the best in your new home. Praise the Lord and keep safe, happy and comfortable.
Love in Christ,
Love your new house AND it come with a mouse? I have been catching a few I could send you. Alll is well in Sidney. Ann-Marie and Sadie have settled in and we are really enjoying their company. They leave on Sunday for Alabama for a month, I'm excited for them but sad for us. :( we will miss them.
You're right about the joys of RVICS! Today at lunch we were discussing our departure from Oak Glen with Frank and Marilyn, and we all got laughs from remembering it! Is this an awesome mission, or what!!!
You know exactly what I'm talking about! In a house, one foot, eight feet long isn't that big a deal, but in a bus, it's like another room! And having a large shower is the same thing! We're very lucky to have this. I hope you get to see it some day.
I love you, and wish we were closer.....Vicki
We were surprised how much light pollution was on top of the hill, but still, the stars we could see were magnificent.
I can hardly wait for you to see our new home! Vicki
I wish you could see it~~it's very nice. Where are you guys now? And where are you going? I have the master schedule for 2010, but not for '09 "Not" meaning "I can't find it"!
Not to worry, the mouse is cordless, and tells my laptop what to do! I can hardly wait for you to see our new house!
I'm sure you're loving having a baby around~~and one that comes with a mother is all that much better! She's so cute! (I checked your facebook!)
Great pictures, Mom!
Have you talked Dad into driving the new bus home for Christmas yet?
We have a bus 41' long. You have snow and ice. Not going to happen!
Congratulations on your new digs! I'm convinced it happened because you dedicate whatever you have to God's glory!
I was very suprised to see your new house. We are enjoying our new home in Mesa for a few weeks. Your 10 hours is very fast compared to us. We arrived ahead of the winter storm on Tuesday. Working every day to get things cleaned and stuff put away. We have another week of fun then back to the real world. The Faulhaber's are expecting a boy baby in late Feb. Who knew!! This should be as interesting as the twins. Enjoyed the opera with Christie on the way down. BJ and Zach are about an hour aways. Love the no schedule!! Hugs around!! Love Bev
Well God is good, that's for sure!
I figured you're down there turning your house into a home! And congratulations on Carrie! Take care!
