The Richland B&O trail is located midway between Columbus and Cleveland Ohio just off interstate 71 at Mansfield.

It forms a semi circle on its way from Mansfield to Butler.

Total distance is 18.4 miles (30 km)

Mansfield to Lexington is 7 miles. Lexington to Bellville is 6 miles and Bellville to Butler is 5 miles.

The trail is asphalt and in the fall of 2012 they were repaving the section from Butler to Bellville and apparently the whole

trail was to be redone (even though we throught it was in pretty good shape)

The trail is about 90% protected from sun and wind and in the fall the colours are worth the ride..

There are 19 road crossings, 18 bridges and 9 parking areas.

Restrooms and water are located at each of the towns.

There are a few scattered benches usually near the towns

Trail heads:

For Mansfield take interstate 71 to state route 13 for 5 miles to Mansfield. Make a left on West 4th street for 1.2 miles then right on Parkway Drive to North Lake Park

For Butler take state route 97 and the trailhead is behind the BP station on the main street.

There are also staging areas in Bellville and Lexington and many others along the trail.

Mileage markers start at Mile 0 in Butler and end at 18.4 in Mansfield

Each of the towns has facilities for food.

I am a retired teacher from Central Ontario, Canada. I love to travel and try to avoid large cities and super highways. My favourite places to travel are Europe which I have covered from Finland to Sicily and Portugal to Czech Republic many times. My favourites are Spain, Slovenia and Italy all of which have received 3 to 10 visits. Only the THREE most recent trips to Southern Italy are presented here. Puglia has become our favorite region with 5 visits in the last 8 years and we continue to return every 12-18 months. My wife Carol and I, also travel (camping) a lot to the ... full info
