Day Three- June 16, 2010 Tampa to Montreal Tour

We see a newspaper headline that says yesterday was over 102 degrees. They should try it sitting on a warm engine like the Packard! Passed through New Bern, the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola 1989, and Washington NC, the original "Washington" founded in 1776. Beautiful drive up US Hwy 17 but we are travelling slow and hope to make lunch on time! 206 miles/5.5 hours Princess Anne, VA McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Rest., Town Center, Virginia Beach 12:30pm Once again we just make it on time! Virginia Beach is beautiful, with a lovely metropolitan downtown center. Wonderful group of professionals and a delicious meal at a fine restaurant. We arrived in New Bern to see our cruising buddies, Marcia and Jon from Non Linear. They have bought a 3 bedroom condo in the same development as Scandia and Quisqueya. So we are familiar with this area. Been here a few times, our regular stop. We stayed with them 2 nights, the 2nd night we went to dinner down by the marina restaurant with a bunch of cruisers. Amongst them was Jerry and Barb from Kumbaya, which we have also seen every year since we met in 2005. Think we originally met them in GGT. They have a summer house in San Diego, and a house in New Bern which they rent. They are headed for the Bahamas next week for the season. We envy them, oh well.... read more
Molweni, Well, I have arrived safely in the United States. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers; I wait eagerly to give everyone big hugs! I think someone turned on the heat here! This, I believe, will be my final blog entry from this trip, but by no means does this mean my trip is over! It has changed the course of my life, my way of viewing the world, and my ways of thinking in so many ways. We are getting ready for our adventure to Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.
