We arrived in Charlotte after coming from a cold New York, to find sunny, beautiful weather! Hannah met us at the airport and after having some lunch we went back to her cute wee place. We spent a lovely afternoon on the porch sitting in rocking chairs listening to some great stories from molly her sister. In the evening we had some visitors that popped by to say hello and went out to a party to meet some of Hannahs friends.
Saturday we went shopping in the morning and then got a ride up to lenoir. We had a lovely relaxing week in lenoir. Slept, did a bit of christmas shopping and cooked a few meals. On tuesday we went back down to charlotte for a few days as we got a surprise call from kim a few days before to say that she was randomly up from florida & visiting with a friend. We spent the day driving around charlotte and doing some shopping (which is what its known for!) Kim got all her snowboard gear for real cheap so it was a successful day. We then went back and stayed the night again with hannah which was fun!
On Friday night Bex was not feeling well so stayed at home. Emily came over and took Debbie out. They went to dinner, then to visit Emilys parents, then bowling and a beer at the bar. It was such a hick bar, not one good looking guy there, all as redneck as the days! Three of these 'fine specimen' came up and and tried to talk to them with in a space of three mins. They were all showed away and the girls preceded to finish their drinks and get out of there as fast as the could! hehehe
During the day on Saturday we went and watched the girls horse ride at the barn, which was fun! We had an afternoon siesta as we were quiet tired from getting up so early (8.30am, i know!) And in the evening we went to a christmas party (at a beautiful old mansion, with antique furnishings & satin covered walls) and caught up with some of Debbie's friends.
Sunday evening we went to Lee Annes to catch up with some friends which was delightful! We met her uncle beck who entertained us for a good some time with questions
on NZ. Did we have paved roads? What language did we speak? did we grow coconuts?... were among the many questions. He decided that our accents were different so Bex must be from the North Island and Debbie from the South Island...such a funny man!
Christmas eve we went to church and then out to the grandparents for dinner. Christmas day we opened presents & then went out to the grandparents for a lovely christmas lunch. We were well spoiled! Thanks so much to Greg, Barbara & Meg for having us to stay & lending us a car. We had an amazing time!!!
One wee story to make you all laugh....
While we were here we heard one of our friends tell us a story about the kids in her class. A bunch of them were turning up to school in tapered (or skinny jeans), anyways, she didnt realise this was the new fashion and couldnt understand how so many of them didnt have enough money to get new jeans once they had grown out of them...we thought it was the funniest thing!
We hope you all had a Merry Christmas & if we dont get to
write again before New Years...we wish you all a happy New Year!!!
Off to LA tomorrow to meet up with Anna- Marie & Lysette for our 3 week road trip...wooo hooo! more fun times to come:)
